5/5Excellent

Voted most popular suburb in Adelaide by British visitors and new arrivals!

Flagstaff Hill is an extensive suburb located a convenient 15 mins from the beach and 25 mins from the CBD and airport. Classified as 'up the hill' rather than part of suburbia, it has a somewhat 'rural' atmosphere with plenty of trees, parkland and recreational facilities. Developed along the Sturt Gorge, the heart of Flagstaff Hill started about 35 years ago with the older homes central and surrounding the Flagstaff Hill shopping centre and Golf Course. This area is very popular as it is well settled and is walking distance to schools, shops, golf course and all amenities such as doctor, dentist & physio. The Flagstaff Hill shopping centre, although a relatively small parade of shops, covers the needs of the area with a very competitive IGA open until 9pm week nights and all weekend, Post Office, Chemist, Bakery, Florist, Chicken Shop, Hairdresser, Cellarbrations, Ray White Real Estate and opening soon an IMVS. Surrounding the shopping centre are the medical and dental centres. The Flagstaff Hill Golf Course is across the road and property surrounding and backing the golf course, is very popular with prices and returns at a premium.

The Craigburn Estate was the next to develop a little further along the Gorge, with properties around 10-15 years of age. This area attracted the more prestigious property builders and remains somewhat a 'cut above' for location and position.

The most recent addition to this lovely suburb is the Flagstaff Pines development started only 5 years ago with a couple of homes and now there are 100s. Once again, the relative newness of this area has attracted designer homes and still has some 20-30 show homes of various Builders attracting visitors to the area on a daily basis.

Being on of the most popular suburbs in Adelaide, property in the area has remained on an upward spiral when many other suburbs have experienced a loss or decrease in value in the last 12-24 months.

Overall, Flagstaff Hill is a great place to live, bring up a family and enjoy a great community lifestyle.

hi

could anyone tell me what flagstaff hill is like to live in.

Is it rough? is it a bad area of adelaide? that sort of thing.

cheers

:biglaugh: Couldnt be any more wrong regarding rough or bad area. Personally I think Flagstaff hill and its surrounding Aberfoyle park, Happy valley are one of the nicest areas south of city. Flagstaff hill is probably the best out of all IMO. Others will say they live nicer, but to answer your Q, NO it aint at all rough.

No offence in the laugh .;)

Flagstaff Hill is a great place to live (I live there). No seriously, very good location, close to everything but still having the country feel. If you require any help in finding a property to buy or rent, please feel free to contact me, I work in Real Estate and have a few properties coming up in the Flagstaff Hill area.

Cheers for all the replies

The location seems good from what you have said, we probably cant afford to buy here to be honest-and its not due to reducing our house price by loads when we sold it, we are hoping to use it as a base if all goes to plan,

Thanks so much again to everyone, hoping to be there soon
