we are looking to arrive in adelaide early september and cant find a rental for the first month

What kind of place are you looking for? We stayed at the Glenelg Motel for a week or so. It's not the Ritz but its in a nice spot and is cheap.

Have you tried ausselife, roo and Tamara.

If all else fails I can recommend the Adelaide meridian on melbourn st as that's where we stayed for a few weeks when we arrived.
