bank balance for rental

Hi,

Well a miracle has happened and we have accepted an offer on our house ! I was wondering if anyone knows how much money the letting agents like to see in your bank account to satisfy them you can afford to sign up for 6 to 12 month rental ? We didn't want to rush all our equity over at once in case the exchange rate goes up considerbly before we intend to buy our first home. It is unlikely either of us will have jobs at the time of securing our first long term rental so we will be relying on our bank balance.

ours never asked,we did give them a statment but more to show wages going in
