Council Tax on rented properties is it included in the rent ?

Hi all,

 

We going to make the move in March / April as I potentially have a job offer working for Port Adelaide Enfield Council. I lived in Oz in my early 20's and rented property but for the life of me I cant remember if the Council Tax was included in the rent or not ?

 

Can anybody put me right ?

The the landlord pays it. So yes, it is included in the rent.

Council rates are generally landloards obligation in the case of residential tenancies. Commercial leases are subject to rates though.

No. to council rates in regards to tenacies. But, outside of rent you can get a quarterly water cost as either a contribution towards excess or the excess itself. This needs to be put in the contract though. So check your contract. Some may have costs towards utilities, but mostly people will disconnect. so you will need to connect gas/electricity/internet.
