Which suburb?

Hi,

we arrive in Adelaide on Dec 11th. We have secured a 4 week rental in Aldinga, looks fab, can't wait!! However we are not sure which area we want to settle. Our possible choices are Aldinga, West Lakes area, Henley Beach and Hallet Cove also wondering about Seaford. I know these seem random but this is just from what I have researched on the net! Might be different when we see them for real also distance from CBD not a factor as my oh will be travelling all over for work. We were thinking of a budget of $350 - $400 per week for rent.

Just wondered if anyone had any input on theses areas with regards to schools and activities for children? My 2 boys are 7 and 4 and love football and MMA. I also have a 4 month old girl so would love to be near playgrooups etc.

Thanks,

Shelley.

Hi Shelley,

Your best bet is to do some serious exploring once you get here. It's so difficult trying to pick the right area unless you have been here before. When we arrived we did the standard thing...hired a car and did a lot of driving (and walking) around to get a feel for areas that appealed to us. Your budget should be fine for most areas and there's a whole selection of properties within this range although some suburbs can be more expensive than others....Henley for example but the number of bedrooms and the property, as well as the suburb, will determine the rent.

Many new migrants do settle inthe suburbs between Hallett Cove and Aldinga but there's another world at the other side of the city so it's necessary to have a look there as well.

Enjoy the experience!

Agree with Tamara about getting in a car once you are here and seeing what appeals. Its very different being on the ground driving the distances than looking on the map. I liked some of the suburbs you've listed (not been to all of them, only the southern ones you list) when visiting friends or driving through/round. But until you see them and the facilities, shops, schools etc you won't know what might suit you best. I'm sure from one of those areas you'll find something that ticks your boxes though :)

Perhaps if wanting more info aboutschools post in the Education and for playgroups post the Socialising areas of the forum and ask specific questions there. I am sure you'd get some feedback from Mums re playgroups in different areas.
