Hi everyone,

Just wanted to get an idea on how long it took you to get a long term rental on arrival. I know it all depends on where you want to live (just wanted to get an idea), we have some where for the first 5 weeks, is this long enough,,

thanks in advance for any replies

Plenty long enough.

Get here, hire a car to get to the garages so you can buy one. Drive round suburbs and find areas you like.

Then buy papers - Weds and weekends have lots of properties in but every day has some. Opens are held throughout the day and are very specific in times - 15 mins may be it, we missed quite a few that way.

Once you apply, you will be asked to give a reference and a bank statement to show your money (if you go through an agent). I wasn't having all my details on display so I asked our bank to print off our balance on headed paper which was accepted fine. We also offered to pay a couple of months up front.

People on here are frequently telling others if they are breaking the lease and moving out of their rentals so keep an eye on here.
