Recently arrived in Adelaide and now considering the next step of buying our own place. We like the look of the Blackwood Park & Craigburn Farm development, think it may be able to offer us the best of both worlds, countryside but close to the beach also. Does anyone live on the development? Or know what it's like in that area, schools, we would be interested in info about both Primary & High Schools & know that The Blackwood Primary & Blackwood High School would be the closest. Google is great, walking around the place better, but sometimes word of mouth is even better, thank you.

Coromandel Valley Primary is also nearby and both my graddaughters are happy and doing well there - Its an IB school. Belair Primary also has an excellent reputation. Most children go on to Blackwood High from there unless they want fee paying schools or choose a different emphasis (agricultural/science) such as Urbrae.

Blackwood has a 'village' feel about it and is a nice shopping centre with loads of boutiques and coffee shops as well as the usual 'chains' Its close enough to city and beaches with good transport links but also has a 'county' rather than town feel being in the hills on the edge of Belair National Park.

There is a large oval with cricket and footie and also a very good tennis and netball club. There are also 2 nearby golf courses. There's a gym in the high street and loads of good restaurants nearby. As retirees and no longer working it is a little outside our price range but, if we were younger and earning a reasonable salary it would be high on our list of suburbs to settle down in.

Flinders Medical Centre is just down the hill and Westfield Marion shopping Mall just beyond that. Brighton is 5 minutes further on and has a lovely beach similar to Glenelg but much quieter. Great Surf Life Saving club there and loads for youngsters to do if they enjoy the outdoor life.

Hi

The 2 areas you've mentioned are both very nice, we've lived in Blkwood when we first arrived, not far from Bkwd Park. But I can't vouch for the school since my kids go to Belair Primary which is not zoned(5 mins drive from Bkwd). They loved it there so much that they stayed even we moved to Coromandel Valley, then now to Aberfoyle Pk.
