HA! Really? I live in Felixstow, and we had the pick of anywhere in Adelaide. We chose it because we have river frontage, but with a tree strewn lawny park thing with walking and cycle paths in, between us so not at risk of flooding (we rent anyway, but still), its not a rat run or through drive, so EXTREMELY quiet (so much so that there is one bleeding bird I'm gonna have to strangle lol), its 15 mins door to door for hubby's work (on the O-bahn to cbd), its between 5-15 mins from about 35 different schools that I would want to teach in, there is a lovely HUGE playground at the end of the street, the other end is a massive footy pitch type open area, the neighbours are all about 100 or are young families.....there is a really excellent library a 5 minute walk away, a small shopping centre 10 mins walk away - all in all its paradise! :D

I wouldn't have chosen here for most of these reasons as we didn't know about them until we moved in, it was the river and park opposite that swung it for us (being near the city but feeling like we're in the middle of the bush!), along with the house being nice, and the location being near the O-bahn, but the other things are lovely.

Conversely, Tea Tree Gully, for example, from the bits I have seen, I wouldn't want to live in at all - but that's the point - different courses for different horses.

But a silly survey imho - the people whom have been around to our place agree - and believe me we aren't precious at all lol if it were a bit of a dump I'd freely admit it :D LOL

Where is this from Ktee? :)

Sounds a lovely area and don't worry I didn't see any in Victoria that were classed as really good areas. This is what it says for how the figures are reached. In fact not many councils had anything under 850 which unfortunately Victoria did have.

SEIFA Index of Disadvantage measures the relative level of socio-economic disadvantage based on a range of Census characteristics. It is a good place to start to get a general view of the relative level of disadvantage in one area compared to others and is used to advocate for an area based on its level of disadvantage. The index is derived from attributes that reflect disadvantage such as low income, low educational attainment, high unemployment, and jobs in relatively unskilled occupations. When targeting services to disadvantaged communities, it is important to also look at these underlying characteristics as they can differ markedly between areas with similar SEIFA scores and shed light on the type of disadvantage being experienced.

I can only think that Felixstow got a 'bad' score because its fully of older people whom probably don't have a massive income, as they would be on pensions and because we have a largish brain injury recovery centre maybe, that I think has assisted housing around it for patients? (Not 100% sure on that one, just what it looks like when you drive past)....plus Felixstow is *tiny* lol...

Anyways, the thing I was trying to say (and probably not very well - been with little people all day stopping paddies happening! wasn't trying to be precious over Felixstow - we don't really have a connection over here, other than we live here and think its a nice place lol) was that take it with a big pinch of salt if you are looking at places people lol.

Anywhere along the river is lovely - and pretty much all the councils that have a bit in their jurisdiction look after it really well.

is it just me or are most of these in the east or north east? Can't see many (any?) of the western councils mentioned, or that many in the north or south either.

Just seen the other posts with the other councils mentioned, doh.
