Is it too much to ask to want a clean rental to move into!!
Our letting agents are being obstructive to say the least in cleaning the rental
we have the keys to but don't move in to till Tuesday.
The previous tenants did a bunk and left the house filthy. The carpets have been cleaned but that's it so far and now we know they had a dog as the smell has come out of the carpets yuk!!!
The letting agent rang the previous tenants and asked the if they had cleaned the property and they said yes, but who cleans a property that they are about to lose a bond over
So we are meant to be getting a call from a cleaner on Sunday, but I'm not holding my breath about it. I left my house in the UK spotless for tenants there and I'm not about to start cleaning another one over here.
Just wanted a moan as I've had enough this week, I don't want much just a clean house!!!
I brushed the patio there today and I think I've given myself RSI in the process.
Sorry to hear about the state of your rental, thats just not on.
It is up to the landlord to sign off the bond form or deduct cleaning cost. If your landlord signed it off then he/she got the full bond back. It is up to your landlord now to make the house ready for the next occupant.
Yes they have the bond money back so a bit of that should cover cleaning costs. We are being made to fight to have anything done which I think is unfair. Also we were only given one set of keys and told to cut some keys ourselves! The money for another set should surely come from the bond.
Again we left our agent in the UK with 2 sets of keys. I think they are trying it on and just trying to keep as much of the bond money as possible.
Again, thats wrong. There should be 2 sets of keys, one belonging to the landlord and one set made up for the tenants. So are they saying the owner of the house gave over the only set of keys to the house? I don't think anyone in their right mind would do that.
They are being stingy and cutting cost. Check your contract and deduct the amount needed for cleaning and keys cut for the house from your monthly payment or submit receipts to your landlord for them to pay.
If they are in breach of contract then you have the right to pull out. This is probably not what you want to do, but you can say that you will and put the wind up them.
My mate moves out of his 3 bed rental in seaford rise around easter. can get some details if you need them ??
Will do , thanks for the advice, just want the house to be nice for the girls.
Thanks Passionate Pom,
But this house is 4 beds and we are out of this rental On Tues
No worries and good luck. By the sounds of it the last tennants were abit undesirable. maybe a change of locks and give the rental agents a set.
Hi,our letting agent is like your new one, some of them are a disgrace,it wouldnt be the L J people would it?They make it obvious that they look down upon tenants, and are ,in my opinion, set on keeping the Bond at the end of lease, for ridiculous reasons!(i know we are going to have it tough with them when we vacate,as soon as possible)because the previous tenants of our house and its twin next door, both had hell over fingermarks on walls, dust on blinds, tyre marks in garage, etc, etc.A house cant stay pristine forever.Good Luck to you and mention your rights as a tenant, they dont like that.Private landlords seem to be much better all round.Billy.
Yes they sound it, at least they weren't poms!
