Can anyone recommend a dog breeder?
We are wanting to extend our family by getting a new puppy. We are thinking along the lines of a labrador/retriever, and was wondering if anyone could recommend a reliable breeder? If not for a lab/retriever, but another breed that would be suitable to have with a young family.
Many thanks, Anna
Tiptree are good for golden retrievers

She's only the size of a labrador or retriever just more solid.
Our Rotty is the softest dog ever and great with kids.

We really want to get a Rottweiler once we're settled, you're right they are wonderful dogs. Great with children, even better with trespassers!
Do they dock the tails here? Would really like the details of the breeder if you still have them.

Docking as in the UK is banned here also.
I know a couple who have rotties with fantastic temperments - can get you their details if you want.
Really pleased to hear about the docking being banned although I've seen a couple of ads saying 'tail removed professionally'...
Thanks for the SACA tip and the rottie details would be great.

Its a great feeling knowing that you are giving a home to a dog that has had a bad start in life.

I have finally got my way with OH and he says that once his work is more settled and we know we can afford one, I can have a dog sometime early next year. I can't wait! I have been tormenting myself with the RSPCA website (bit premature I know!) and hope that we too will be able to find a family dog that will be smoochy with the kids (one being under 5) and patient and passive with our very territorial cat (who was also from there)!
http://www.petrescue.com.au is also another good place to look for rescue animals (has all the SA animal shelter animals listed) and they sometimes have puppies looking for new homes.
Otherwise, as mentioned, there are lots of breeders to be found via:http://www.dogssa.com.au/Website/index.php
For highly recommended family dogs check out http://www.burkesbackyard.com.au/200...ds/top_10_dogs
Can you tell I'm obsessed! lol
Good luck with your search and I hope you find a lovely pet puppy soon.
