Haven't tried it yet for anything but stuff on their menu, but the chef in the Saffron (Pelican Plaza, Ridgehaven) said that they are happy to prepare dishes on request even if they are not on their menu, and to be honest, he was a bit tired of having to cook Butter Chicken all the time for less adventurous/knoweldgable Australians (in the nicest possible way!) So if there's a particular indian dish you've been missing, it may be worthwhile having a chat with the chef at your local and seeing if something can be sorted out! It may be that they just cook the "Australian" version of a curry, rather than the "british" version because that's what the majority of their customers ask for - but would welcome the chance of cooking for some more "educated" curry lovers!!
Sometimes the grass will appear greener on the other side because it has been fertilised by bull****
Oh thankyou oh mighty one
IMO I don't rate Charminar or Rollinn. Neither are amazing and when I go out I like to have a dining 'experience' rather than just it be saving me from doing the cooking that night!! Rollinn's food was ok, but when you are served on plastic plates it really ruins it!!!!
By far the best curry I had was at http://www.jasmin.com.au/ (City). Been there a few times (more often if it was cheaper!) and have enjoyed EVERYTHING. I like all kinds of Indian food and have tried a wide range. It's always busy, the service is fantastic and the food is fantastic. The only other Indian I'd bother going back to is Urban India in Mile End (not the North Adelaide one, that was rubbish service). Not so busy when we went (week night), but good atmosphere and food was good. Service was very impressive - they went out of their way to ensure I could eat certain things (I'm celiac).
I have a voucher (Scoopon or similar) for http://www.spicekitchen.com.au/ which I will be using soon - won awards like Jasmin's so I'm hoping it lives up to expectations!
COMPUTER PROBLEMS? PM for cheap rates, no fix = no fee!

Have tried a few so called Indian Restraunts around Southern Adelaide , have to say we have been very disappointed with Charminar in Reynella ,Mr India in old Reynella , so we have came to what we can say is as close to a UK curry with nice naans is the Delhi Spice on Oaklands Road , not much to look at but food has been very tasty every time we have eaten out of there, a word of warning if going for a sit in , it only seats around 20 so think you would have to make reservations & they do BYO . Just our views.
I'm not an Indian food fan. Not to say I don't mind eating the odd one but certainly not on a regular basis or going for a meal at one if given choice between Indian and something else. We went for one at a popular place in Bristol a couple of weeks ago and although it was good, I really didn't rave about it as I might have done for French meal or a good Chinese. Also the use of coriander in so many dishes makes me *blurgh*, lets just say its not a herb I like at all and will only tolerate in very small quantities.
Also hubby had to work in India for a while and had his own personal chef type person who cooked for him every night. He said after the first couple of weeks he was longing for a spag bol or sausages. Put him off Indian a bit in the long run, even though it was proper home made stuff
I know when I had Chinese in Aus I found it very different to the UK idea of Chinese (same as when in the Netherlands, US, Germany and everywhere else I've eaten food). Oddly though, the Aussies I know here have all said what a great Chinese we have down the road from us, much better than what they have eaten in Aus. But then other Chinese places here have fallen short for them. I guess quality stands for a lot, regardless of it being in Aus or here
So I won't mind too much on the Indian front. I'll be looking for Chinese and a good French restuarant if there is one
