Shipping company for everyone especially those in the South West
Just to reccommend an excellent shipping company with very competitive prices.
I used them two years ago to send some suitcases across then last year for my main pallet of boxes etc and then last week to send my excess baggage!
They have been very friendly and efficient on every occassion.
They are based in Exeter so good for those in the South West but can apparently do most areas of the UK
They're called Transglobal and can be reached on 01392 362122
Hope this helps some people
We are using Britannia Movers International, came this morning to look at our stuff, now my mine is whirling, they gave us lots of advice about our stuff i.e. our wicker baskets our washing goes in might have to fumigated at the other end and cost us $700 so might be worth not bringing it. Disinfecting Bikes, shoes garden tools etc.
We are hoping to complete our house move next month and hope to have them come in and take our stuff the previous week, apparently it will take them a week to clear out our stuff as they will fill up their lorry take it back to depo each day, when they have everything they pack it into the crate this apparently takes 10 days with organizing paperwork etc, then another 6 weeks at sea, when it arrives in adelaide it goes into quarantine for 2 weeks before we can get our hands on it. Thats if they are happy with everything. We are left now with paperwork to fill out.
Is this how long it takes everyone else.
We're using the same company as you. We have been quoted 2-3 days for packing a 40ft container. We think the different times we have been quoted is because they contract out the domestic packing up to local firms who may vary in how they do things. Our lorry will be coming from a base 30 miles away. So far we have found the local agent very helpful.
went to bump up this thread as I know there are a lot of people about to leave the West Country to come to Adelaide.
Realised I never answered your query - :embarrassed:
We didn't experience these times no - all went smoothly and was a lot quicker than you've been quoted - although think you're actually here now - so hope it all went well and that you're enjoying your new life!
The contact name at Transglobal Exeter is Brian Waite and he can be reached on 01392 362122 - can highly recommend them and him!
Hi I'd forgotten about this post erm I'd have to say it's ending wasn't so good as the beginning, we have 7 broken items, lamps that were taken apart and the bits were put in different boxes and this was the least of our problems, anyway my view now I've just spent 3 weeks going through 400 boxes because the descriptions was not written on the sheet they give us, SO BE AWARE check they are writing all descriptions on the sheets you are given or you will have a month of hell.
Another piece of advice I would give anyone coming over is vac sealng bags, we put freshly cleaned duvets pillows in these and we opened the bags they still smelled fresh but everything else towels, sheets, clothes etc that we had straight into boxes and suitcases on the crate absolutely stunk, sorry to say very musty.
