Just wondering if anyone has discovered any irresistable treats in the Adelaide Supermarkets? We now like Primo pre pack Bacon,Coles Chocky and their own brand plain thin crisps(Sorry,Chips)Have you any recommendations we should try?
Whittakers chocolate, big think chucnks of it, scrummy. Coles Belgian Choc is the only one I like. Cheese and Chive Dip, Dilmah tea bags. Not the supermarket but bakers delight, and pretty much anything from there is lovely especially their bread, berry and white choc scones. they're fabulous
Old Gold rum n raisin chocolate, Chilli crab dip, chevapachi's on the barbie, coles own pancake and picklet mix.
This is making me hungry, time for a snack
Tiger rolls (oh, memories of those Tesco ones!) from Bakers Delight at Mawson Lakes - haven't seen them in Bakers Delight at Hallett Cove or Brighton, so must be franchise-specific.

I've found real gammon at "Rito's" Deli in Colonnades, Noarlunga Centre! It was absolutely WONDERFUL.......... even better than what you find in the supermarkets in the UK. A bit expensive but there was no fat or skin whatsoever so it's nice for a treat baked in foil in the oven or even on the b'bcue!
Everything at the Adelaide Market is fabulous, you can get great gammon there at the Barossa Store, the Corner delhi is the best for cheeses, terrific bacon and pretty much all small goods, their greek yoghurt is to die for. There are some great pastas pre-made and dips at the first store as you come into the market next to the glass lift. The name of it has slipped my mind. I really like cactus for fresh veg and fruit and they get some fantastic exotic stuff there. I offer tours of the market occassionally as part of my business so if any of you are interested let me know.
In the big supermarkets try tim tams, caramello koalas (always take them back to the US with me for the kids), any of the Maggie Beer products are fantastic, great pates. If any of you are travelling down to Port Elliott they have the best bakery always packed and the most amazing range of products its on the main drag as you drive through Elliott. Try their mushroom pie if you're a vegetarian terrific. Also in the town itself, great people and food at the Registry.
We've just been down to Victor for the weekend and have gained so much weight I am so sure visiting the farmer's market (very upscale market quite expensive because a lot of the products are organic) but having said that everything that I bought there was so fresy and delicious worth the money, but if you are on a budget watch it. The Port Elliott Market is on each Saturday morning (when it is warm not sure about in winter) anyway can get some lovely fresh vegies etcetera there, and also homemade fantastic pickles.
I buy my meat from a wholesale butcher in Thebarton, name has gone out of my mind but I know how to get there, so will be going back next week, watch this post so that I can give you the name and address. The meat is fantastic, really well priced, and many of the Adelaide restaurants use them so you can get special cuts of meat also. For instance last time I was there I bought lamb shanks for $1 each which is a bargain, everything was great. They do take credit card, it is always packed but you are in and out very quickly and they will help you to your car with your order.
Can I ask you all if you can write to me and let me know the items that you really miss and would want to buy if they were available. I am currently selling some difficult to get items such as Gluton free products and pastries, and working on bringing in some vegetarian and Kosher foods from the states etcetera, so would appreciate some feedback.
Hope you all have a beaut easter, it will be cold soon so we have to enjoy this amazing weather while we can.
All the best.
