mawson lakes

hello guys,
could anyone give us any information on mawson lakes sounds/looks wonderful, heard alittle sad things about the school there but thats one persons appinion.

i know its a new built housing suburb so could anyone also let us know about anymore new built suburbs,
just keeping my opions open,hubster still wants to move to hallet cove but am hunting round to see if there anywhere else we might like to settle

Now the school isn't all that great, I know a handful of people all of whom have removed their kids from the school and gone private. The main problem seems to be a lack of respect for the teachers who allow the pupils to call them by their first name. There is no library on site and they have to walk to another school or the community library, also some of the classes are open plan so you may have up to 70 children in one space being taught by 3 teachers. There is no state High School on Mawson Lakes, its Endeavour college which is private and about $5,000 a year. http://www.endeavour.sa.edu.au/unipa...unipartner.asp

Personally I couldn't live on Mawson Lakes, I love the idea of it, wide open spaces, lakes, shops, cafe culture direct public transport links to the city etc etc but the reality is unless you have the money for a big place and some parts are very expensive, you'll end up with a house on a tiny plot with not much garden. The plus side is its all recycled water, so you can keep the lawn and the garden alive. there are plenty of rentals available so it would be a good starting point.

Rob and Clare love living there and they will be able to give you a residents view but having the neighbours 1 metre from my fence just doesn't do it for me.

I actually find it amazing here that different areas can offer such different life options, and i think when you look at an area it is really what does the area offer for you.

Mawson Lakes at the moment is perfect for us, we live 15 mins walk from the town centre, with a pub (second one one the way), 6 restuarants, Fast food and a supermarket. So come the weekend we can leave the car and walk for anything we want. It is an Interchange location, so a lot of buses come through the estate and there is the rail line which is serviced by every train (the trains here sometimes stop at different stops so some areas get a reduced service during peak travel, but ML get's them all). We're 10 mins from the city by train, and 15 mins to Elizabeth / Edinburgh (there is a lot of work in these areas). There are numerous parks, playgrounds, lakes and even last night when i went out for a run at 9:00pm there were still 100+ people round the main lake.

The bad news as Jo said some houses have been built to fit the footprint of the land completely, so they have very little garden, but this is an increasing characteristic of many of the 'affluent' suburbs. So if it's an area of interest then just check the houses which suits you the most. There is a huge mix of house styles on plots to suit most people.

See thats what I'd love about living there. There are also lots of community events going on all the time and the Tour Down Under runs through Mawson Lakes also.

I've just been on realestate.com.au and found a selection of rentals from the average to quite expensive.
