Why don't you ask the thousands of other 18 year olds in Adelaide? Anyone would think we were in middle of nowhere!! Amazing that there are any left here. They must all disappear at 16, and come back for retirement.

To the city is OK, the post was far further than that!
He has posted on here many a time for help finding work, didn't get any.
I will reitterate again, it's not through the want of trying!

Adelaide is ****
Brad,i wish you all the luck in the world upon your return and hope things will get better for you.
I concur with a lot of the comments made by Happy Feet that unless you have lived in that persons shoes how are you qualified to comment.
I personally know people here who are highly qualified and years of job experience and have been unable to find work from between 6-12 months and the impact of that upon them and their families has been horrendous, even more so in the present economic slowdown..
In addition how viable would it be for Brad to go and live in other areas of the state on some subsistence wage ,how would he afford to pay rent, food, run a car etc.My husband has worked with half a dozen apprentices who have moved from outlying rural SA as there was no work and they have only been able to do so, as they have family members here who they are living with.
You only have to see on the news how modern day teenagers are a pretty vulnerable group and it must be heartbreaking for brads parents who i assume like the rest of us thought they were bringing him here for a better life ,only to see how miserable he has been.
!8 should be one of the most exciting times years of your life ,not one of misery. Why people should be so negative i dont know, perhaps he was full of optimism when he came and thelast yr has knocked the stuffing out of him.Constant rejection can have that effect.
As other people have commented all the reccies in the world and research count for nothing if jobs etc dont pan out.
Perhaps Brads comment was a little inflammatory for some, but it surely doesnt give people licence to attack him as he has been..
Best of luck Brad.

If you actually read that stats, most of the young people do leave, the majority of the people living here is families, with younger kids like yourselves or OAPs, very little of inbetweeners. And thats from the stats.
Its not that we're in the middle of nowhere it's just that there isn't a lot for young people to do.

There are still an awful lot of kids that don't leave. If it doesn't suit Brad then It's fine for him to go back, hard on his family, but I wished he'd been able to travel round a bit before he left. Perhaps he will when he next visits his family :) Good luck and chin up to his family. It's cheaper for 1 person to come back than a whole family, so you may find he comes back on a trip bringing friends to travel with.

Well thats me told then, guess all those teenagers and young fellas i help train to ride motorbikes are myths and ghosts then. I've had my say on it, and if like i said, if he had been somewhat more diplomatic in the way he had posted, then fine. Constructive criticism is always welcome and helps to give a balanced view, especially to others coming out with teenagers, but i'm afraid he comes across somewhat like a spoiled brat! And before you jump down my throat, i am NOT saying he is, but he comes across as that in his last few posts. I'm going to leave this thread now, as it will only wind me up. Just remember, for every excuse, there is a way around it.........

and time to shut this thread as it's mostly negative from all sides. Good luck Brad maybe giveit another go when you've been back a while....your visa will last for a while and you will intime remeber the good things that there are here.
