Just like to add that in my job I have to use CBT, but its useful for everday life, once you get to grips with it, it can transform your life, very good success rates for addictions/depression and other illness`s.

Have a safe journey. Let me know if you settle in the North-Eastern suburbs and I'll shout you a coffee!
I have been here 7 months and have been homesick since I arrived. I do think 4- 6 months is the worst time for feeling homesick so it should get better. I have days where I just miss silly things like the shops or tv and other days where I could get on a flight and go home. I am hoping it does get easier, others on this site say it can take a while to really settle - will just have to wait and see!!
Arrived in Adelaide 3 August 2009, returned to UK August 2011!!
Aah guys there is no set time for settling here, we have been very fortunate and settled straight away some guys ping pong around a bit until they find where they need to be in life.
some guys go straight back to the dark side as thats where there heart and soul needs to be, there is no right and wrong way its all doen to the individual and how they shape it all up.
Try and make friends with some people who have settled and are very positive this will help you get settled in alot better, it worked for us and we are not looking back.
Pm me if you need any help or advice or anything like that.....you are not alone

South Australia Its Heaps Good !!! & I'm lovin it !!!
Definitely does get better, trust me. Getting out and about even when you're feeling down is the answer, and thanks to this site, if you do feel bad, you can post up on here and soon have offers of coffee/get togethers/whatever. I was told when I first arrived that it takes about 18 months before you start to feel 'at home' and I reckon that's pretty close. You'll still miss people and places and things you left behind, don't think that ever goes away, but you become closer as a family unit to the ones that are here with you, and when you are out and about and a bright green and red parrot swoops in front of your nose, you have to pinch yourself to remind yourself that this is where you live now!
Don't do what I did though, and start howling alone in your new kitchen when REM's Everybody Hurts comes on the radio.....
I can only be nice to one person each day....today is NOT your turn...and tomorrow isn't looking too hopeful either.
