Hi all, We are breaking lease on our 4 bedroom in the lovely Brighton area. It's a lovely clean house with lots of space and an en suite in the master bedroom. The agent will be advertising soon so if someone was desperate to secure a rental in the Brighton Secondary catchment area, PM me and we can see if it's suitable for you before it goes on the market. As far as I'm aware, SA water come out for free and if the fault is outside of your property, then you won't have to pay to fix it... When we first moved into our rental, the toilet was really slow to drain (nothing to do with me I might add!!!) We told the letting agents and they said they wouldn't send a plumber until sa water had been round and confirmed the fault wasn't outside the property... It's very common so I'm told. They were here within the hour too

We were in our rental about 2 weeks after viewing... The landlord had a few finishing touches to do and the timing fitted in perfectly with our short term lease.

Our rental said no to pets but after we met the landlord, he said he wouldn't mind if we wanted a cat or a small dog, but definitely not a large dog... We are in brighton too

Hi sharon, I can't help with any plumbing contacts but I just wanted to say that we are in a similar situation. We arrived 5 months ago on a skilled state sponsorship only to find that hubby's lift mechanic qualifications aren't recognised here either. He's having to retrain and is working as a trade assistant at the moment... Perhaps try PEER For the plumbing training. Good luck. Ps, we are only up the road from you in Brighton

We hadn't been before either. It's a massive leap of faith when you haven't been, have no jobs lined up and don't know anyone...We've been here about 4 months now and it feels like we've been here for so much longer... My 2 children go to Brighton Secondary. It's a zoned school so you have to be in catchment. They have special interest areas in volleyball and music so if you go into one of those programs you don't need to be zoned. My friend has her 2 in Henley which is also a great school. I'm pretty sure they are quite sports focussed. These are the only 2 high schools that I know about really... Anyway, if I can help you with anything else, feel free to PM me.

I liked the idea of Christies beach when we were still in the UK but when we got here we found it was just a little too far out from the city for us... It may suit you guys though and it really is a beautiful part of the world. We ended up in brighton which is about 20 minutes from the city. I went to Henley last week and that's a lovely area too... Keep your options open and just see what feels right when you get here.

I'm sure you will be fine... I think it's harder to decide which area you want to settle in. We had our long term rental secured within about 10 days and showed bank statements to the estate agents. There seems to be hundreds of properties about and I love going to the open houses. Great fun! Have you got a rough idea where you wanna stay? X
