  1. As far as I've understood by reading this thread and also talking about it with my migration agent, if you are here with a 190 visa you can break the agreement with the state if particular conditions may occur, whilst the 489 subclass doesn't allow you to change State even if you move to another regional area.
  2. If it's just you and your partner, it may be convenient to rent a room instead of the whole house. We did that way last january, we found on http://www.homestaybooking.com a beautiful double room in Belair in a villa with pool and tennis court for something like 50$ per day. I preferred this solution because especially the first days having someone "local" to talk with that lives in the same house can be important.
  3. OMG, this pizza alone worth the travel!!!
  4. Good job, vjustme: I think this is the final answer to the OP question!
  5. Can anyone who has a 489 grant letter in his hands check if there is something written?
  6. Nope, I mean that is hard to find not only high level position, but also not so high level jobs... I'm a mechanical designer, 15 years of experience, and even if I have applied for positions like junior draftsperson, I haven't succeeded securing a job in my field in the last three months...
  7. I'm a mechanical designer too, and I am struggling more than I expected to get my first Australian job. In about four weeks of job search I've found a dozen of suitable ads on seek.com.au, then I applied for and had just a couple of (negative) answers. If it wasn't the four seasons in a day city, I'd definitely choose Melbourne, 'cause there's plenty of vacations in our field there.
  8. OMG!!! No, un(?)fortunately in there days we found our home () so we've been too busy to go diving again... If you see it, tell it to wait another week at least
  9. Today I attended an information session for the new arrivals, there at South Australia State Office in Currie street. It was interesting, they gave us a lot of informations on job hunting, training courses and similar. But the thing that made me feel more positive is taking a look at all the people around me, they were all brand new arrivals, looking for a job and a place in this country. I felt I'm not alone, and it's a good sensation when you're down.
  10. I might write it in my resume, under the voice "South Australian experience"
  11. Those ( http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/489.aspx#sub-heading-17 ) are the relevant conditions of your visa: "If you were nominated for this visa by a State or Territory government: -You must live, study and work in regional and low population-growth metropolitan area and comply with any residential conditions specified by the State or Territory government in your nomination. -If you later apply for a permanent residence Skilled-Regional visa (subclass 887), you will need to prove that you have spent the specified time in a regional and low population-growth metropolitan area." So the answer to your question should be written in your nomination, then you have to read your grant letter and search for any restrictions concerning change of address/state.
  12. OMG!!! I was diving exactly there at 1.30 that day:shocked:
  13. How funny it is your debate, from a non native speaker POV BTW, it doesn't seem to match that much with the topic the OP put on the table, isn't it?
  14. The subclass 190 is a Skilled Nominated, the skilled independent is the subclass 189. To get a visa by yourself you should perfectly know rules and procedures you'll find along the process. It's feasible, but since you're confusing one type of visa with another, probably you'd better look for the guidance of a migration agent.
