Best time to buy flights for Christmas (from UK)

Hey all,

 

Just wondering if anyone has any idea when may be a good idea to buy flights for Christmas time? We have some friends who want to visit but they can only travel between 22nd Dec and 15th Jan - most expensive times!! The flights are around £1200 per adult at the moment.... is there a time of year they will drop before they go up again? I'm sure they were cheaper last year but can't remember when I looked....

they might have been cheaper due to the economic turndown. However ...flights around Christmas fill up and your friends will need to book soon. I suggest they just have a look on the usual equivilent travel sites there like bestflights here to see what specials there are.

That price seems pretty average especially for xmas time. I dont think they would drop much. I have been looking for flights back to the UK for anytime this year and £1200 is the cheapest I can find.

Hi We went to NZ 2 years ago at Christmas with emirates and flew out christmas eve, lost christmas day in the air and arrived boxing day. If you don't mind missing celebrating a bit out of time its great. The saving was huge and it brought it down to off peak prices. We celebrated 2 christmas's that year one in the UK and one in NZ.

We bought our flights for our christmas trip to NZ at the beginning of September. I seem to remember the flight prices did change over time.
