Flying with Singapore Airlines with a 4mth old

Hi there

Is anyone able to give me information on what Singapore Airlines expect you to do with a pram?

Are you allowed to keep the pram until you get on the flight - and then they give it back to you at Singapore, where you can then have it until the UK flight?? Or do they issue you with their own stroller?

I can't seem to find the information on the Singapore Airlines website, so any info would be much appreciated.

I am flying on my own with a baby and am worried about what to do in Singapore if they check the pram directly through to London.

Many thanks

Dande

Guest Here at last!

If you e-mail or call them they will confirm.

My friend returned to the UK last week with Emirates and had a nightmare with the pushchair. There was an unscheduled stop in Singapore for 2 hours so no pushchair there but when she had 6 hours in Dubai she used a loan one from the airport. She then had to wait 2 hours for the pushchair in Birmingham.

Do you have a body carrier that you could take? My friend really struggled with the bags and holding her baby and the staff wouldn't hold her baby as they said they weren't allowed. This was Emirates though.

We flew with Singapore Airlines and there was a lady at the side of us by herself with a toddler and a new born and the staff were always helping her out and when it was meal times they held the baby for her while she ate.

Good luck, you will always find someone to help you out if you need to.

Ah, thank you both.

Started having palpatations after the first post, but feel more settled now, thank you Jo!!!

I have a sling so will take that as well, as I will be able to use the buggy to carry the hand luggage ( I will have a 7 year old with me too ).

Thanks again

Dande - yep - just to confirm - Singapore Airlines - will let you take your Pram up to the plane (Assuming it folds up) - mention you have a pram at checking in. When you board the plane, the staff will take the pram from you and load it onto the plane. When you get to Singapore, The crew will give you the pram back so your child can relax for the 5 hrs or so and you hand the pram back once again when you board the plane. The pram is not part of the luggage allowance either. It's simply allowed as a child necessasity item + a bag for baby things. Singapore Airlines service was outstanding as predicted and cannot be beaten.

Hi Dande,

yep dont worry about it! i flew last september with a twelve week old with singapore airlines -they were fantastic!

we were able to keep pram until we boarded and then we had it back as soon as landed in singapore to wander round and as soon as we landed in adelaide.

have you managed to book a cot (bassinet) for onboard?that was really good as you get extra leg room too!haha!

also singapore let you take pram, and car seat as 'free' luggage (as mentioned above) AND your baby is also entitled to 10kg of luggage so we were able to pack quite a big rucksack for our little one!

good luck!

Hi Dande

As other posts have stated Singapore Airlines are fantastic when traveling with small children. I have travelled twice back to the UK with a little one on my own and they couldn't do enough for me. You can also contact the Airline and request 'extra assistance' and someone will escort you off the plane and help you with you bags. This means you also get fast tracked through the passport control and customs with no queuing.

Hope you have good trip.

Are you checking your bags all the way through?

This means you will not see you suitcases until Adelaide...

If so make sure you tell the check in you need the buggy at Singapore.

It should come off the plane very quick and then you can be on your way.

Singapore Airline were top dollar as far as i am concerned.

Would pay the extra if there was any to travel with them next time we fly.

I flew on my own with a small baby and did the same. The only problem I had was that when I asked them to warm a bottle for me it was given back far too hot and I had to wait whilst my daughter was carrying on because she was hungry. I didn't want to complain as otherwise they were great. I'd suggest making sure you have a big bottle of water with you if you need bottles warmed, just in case. We also asked for a sky cot when booking.
