Hi All,

I'm going to buy a car for my daughter but the car has no roadworthy certificate!!

Is this a problem in south Australia as I've heard different stories?

Can anyone please help?

Thank you Derek

Why would you need one! Not required unless you want car inspected!

[h=3]Roadworthy inspections[/h] In South Australia, a roadworthy inspection is required when the vehicle:

  • has been fitted with a non standard engine
  • construction has been changed (e.g. change to length of wheelbase, change in number of tyres, or the vehicle has been converted from a sedan to a convertible)
  • is a bus with seating for 13 or more
  • has been issued with a major defect notice
  • has been imported from overseas
  • was originally manufactured as left hand drive
  • has been rebuilt from parts and is a hot rod, beach buggy, etc.
  • has been changed and the seating capacity is different
  • is new and is not fitted with a compliance plate or the compliance plate approval date has expired
  • is a repaired written-off vehicle
  • was registered in another state, is more than seven years old and has an unladen mass of 4.5 tonnes or more
  • trailers registered in another state, more than seven years old and having an unladen mass of 4.5 tonnes or more are also required to be roadworthy tested.
