Singapore airlines- checkin and flight pack

So we are flying by Singapore Airlines in Jan and just wondering what you are given on board.... When i last flew with them years ago we were given a flight bag with tooth brush, eye mask, flight socks, eye mask in do you still get that or not??

Also we are going to check in on line but do people recommend getting to airport 2 hours before or more/less??? And do we check in for both UK-Singapore leg and Singapore-Oz at the same time? (only have 12 hours stop over in airport)

Sorry for the questions .... thanks for any answers!

Just socks and toothbrush these days on Singapore! If you check in on line you can go 90 mins beforehand which is great at somewhere like Heathrow! If you do check in on line beware - you must use a good laser printer as several people in front of us (this was Sept) where turned back to recheck and get proper boarding passes as their inkjet printed copy would not scan at passport control/security. Yes you can check in for both legs. Make sure you help yourself to drinks and snacks in the cabin as the cabincrewf expect you to do this and don't always bring a lot of stuff around. A lot of cabin service time was lost on our flight due to turbulence and thus fasten seatbelt signs on!

Are you coming permanently or just a reccee? If permanent then don't forget to ask for your extra 20kgs pp. If temporary then a shame as you will loose this as they class the flight as migration as you will be validating your visa.

Thanks Crushfamily, just the info we needed! Great tip about the printer as well.

We are coming permanently so we have checked about the 40kg pp baggage- and thank god- dont know what we would do without it!

Definitely can check in all the way through and your baggage should go through all the way as well. You can always ask at the desk if you are not sure.

Get to the gates in plenty of time. We were coming from France through Germany and we had to show our passports and credit cards at both airports, and were called to the desk to do this. There weren't any problems, but worth bearing in mind if you are tired and stressed!

As well as the toothbrush etc we got a little monopoly card game for our son. It was great fun to play, and we still use it now!

Good luck with the flight. Singapore Airlines are really nice and the in flight entertainment is really good. They really are good with kids and bring out their meals first and that makes a huge difference to a 6yr old, trust me.

You might want to consider booking into the transit hotel (we stayed at the one in terminal 3, which we arrived and departed from) for the 12 hrs you are there. We did this and it was definitely nice having a shower and a proper lie down inbetween legs.

The shopping is good in Singapore, and if you have room and need any clothes etc it was a bit cheaper that Adelaide from what I remember.

The only slight negative was Harry's Bar. It was very nice and comfortable and the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, but a gin and tonic cost around 15euros!
