towing advice

Hi All

 

Does anyone know if it is legal to tow on a rope in SA.

Some thing tells me it has to be a trailer of fixed bar, but i cant find anything now I need to know.

My daughters care has broken down and we need to get it to the mechanic. I know you can borrow trailers from garages, but all that adds to the cost of the repair, so was hopin we could just tow it there.

Bear in mind you shouldn't tow auto transmission cars as it buggers up the gearbox, plus power steer and servo assisted brakes won't work.

Have you considered joining the RAA if they can't get it going they arrange for it to be taken to a garage no charge,or just get a mobile mechanic. Think tow ropes are not legal.

Dial A Tow might be a cheaper option?

 

Have heard you need a special licence to tow a car trailer but don't know if this is correct or not?? Ropes aren't allowed
