Just spoke to my doctors, and asked for a copy of my familys medical records to take with us to Adelaide. They said that it would cost me £10 per person, and then a further £10 per page printed !!!

What has everyone else done about this ?

Wasn't sure if there is a way of getting these records without the big cost.

Cheers

Max

I asked for mine last Friday and I pick them up tmro...she said she couldnt give me a price though but as there's not a lot there (luckily!) she said it shouldn't be much...I'm assuming just an admin fee...will be a bit shocked if it's £10 per page!! Will post tmro and let you know!

Yet to get my OH's though and he's with a diff doc...hope it's not too much!

Why need to bring the medical records? we didn't when we came two years ago. I think unless you have special case, or special condition, that you want to discuss with your doctor when you come, I think the record's not really needed. When you see the doctor here, they will probably ask you to have a blood test, and will pick up from there. My wife and me have a blood pressure and she also has a condition callled hypothyroid (?), and we just brought our medication to show them, that's all.

You don't need them unless you have any illnesses but the receptionist at our doctors told me that they couldn't charge us because everyone has a right to see a copy of their medical records and gave me ours free

You don't need your records. Even if you see a specialist, your doctor should give you a letter of referral to the new specialist outlining anything pertinent. Don't get ripped off. Any GP here worth their name should be able to get a detailed history out of you and highlight anything needing further attention, in which case they will refer you. Doctors can contact specialists to get any info they need.
