Customs Clearance

Hey

We are due to land in Adelaide on 19th October and we have been told by our removal company that our container is due in the Port of Adelaide on 3rd December. We are booked into a furnished holiday rental till 14th December. I am wondering roughly how long does it take for the containers to get through customs clearance as we are hoping to have everything by xmas??

Hi there!

Ours came in on the 7th of August, and we got it on the 21st of August, which is about average I think! It will also depend on what customs and quarantine have to look through! So it'll probably go through quicker if you bring less items that are likely to be inspected.'

We also kept bothering them, and we hadn't heard for about a week on one occasion, so we rang them, and they 'coincidentally', were arranging pick up "as we speak". This doesn't mean you have to ring everyday though haha!

Luckily you'll be in summer, whereas we had no furniture for about 3 weeks in the middle of winter, so was a bit chilly!

And it obviously depends how much they have coming into port during the few weeks around that date.

Hope this helps!

Hi, Ours also took a week in total. You can track your container online which is worthwhile as ours took an unexpected holiday in Singapore before eventually changing ships. Good luck.

I would think 2 weeks then hopefully it will be quicker, things can get clogged up before Christmas though.

If you have the number of the container you can track it on-line as said by Smurphy.

Although ours 'disappeared' in the middle of the ocean half way along and we couldn't track it again until it docked in Adelaide.

Hi, Our removal company was PSS and the shipping company was MSC - Mediterranean Shipping. Their website is http://www.mscaustralia.com. I expect there are a number of different shipping companies, hope you manage to track your container soon. We watched on our laptop as the ship docked at Port Adelaide, how sad but we were so delighted to know our container had arrived!

Hi, we used John Masons and they gave us a link to website to watch the container, and we did (how sad are we!) But when the container left the UK the dates we were given on arriving and departing at various ports were spot on. Once it got to Port in Adelaide it was through customs in two days and sat in Wridgeways holding depot for a day or two until we got the keys for our long term rental.
