Hi,

Just secured a job and although I will be mobile, my base will be in Wingfield. Can anyone suggest any nice areas for rentals and primary schools around that area. (Maybe within a 15 - 20 min commute.

Thanks.

Hi.

Firtly, many congrats on the job. That's a major bonus before you come. Wingfield is mainly an industrial area but within close reach of really nice suburbs. Close by to the North is Mawson Lakes, which is a new area (up to 10 years old) and very well designed with lots of facilities close by. To the west, you have West Lakes which was developed by the same people who have built Mawson Lakes. The advantage of West Lakes and nearby suburbs is the closeness of the beach, lake for water sports and lovely walking and cycling tracks, duckpond for the kids, football stadium, great shopping mall with cinema complex and loads more. If you take a look at www.realestate.com.au and maybe start at West Lakes, West Lakes Shore, Grange, Henley Beach, Semaphore, and surrounding areas. They are all within a 15-20 minute commute to Wingfield, probably less with the recent opening of the Port Expressway and the new bridge going over the river which cuts out up to a dozen sets of traffic lights. West Lakes Shore School (Primary/Junior) is a very good school with many English kids attending, apparently (a result of most UK Police recruits settling in this area - the Police Academy is at Largs Bay to the north) http://www.westlakes.sa.edu.au/

That should be a good starting point (I'm thinking of you having small children) however, if you like city living, Adelaide City Centre is also only 15 minutes to the south of Wingfield and would also be easily commutable.

Happy searching, Kazza

Hi Lozmitch,

You could try, Mawson Lakes, Salisbury Heights, Gulfview Heights, Golden Grove, Wynn Vale, Greenwich, Surrey Downs, Fairview Park, all of these places are north of Adelaide.

Also Athelstone, Dernancourt, Highbury, Hope Valley, Vista, Tea Tree Gully, Ridgehaven, Greenwith, Banksia Park - all about 15 minutes drive away, all got good choice of schools, variety of housing, good transport links, beaches about 35 mins, City about 20 mins, Barossa wineries about 35 mins :)<hic>
