Moving to Adelaide

Hi, I am going to be moving to Adelaide towards the end of this year with my husband and two sons, aged 5 and 2. I have a book on the 215 suburbs but it's all a bit of a minefield! Can anybody recommend some good ones that are family orientated and have good schools and childcare?

As the exchange rate is so poor in the UK, we are not going to be taking over as much money as we had hoped and will not therefore be able to live really close to the city, so the suburbs need to have reasonably priced housing, probably about 20km or more from the city centre.

Thanks.

Gail

We live in Aldinga Beach which is about an hours drive from the city centre. As a family with young children we feel it is a lovely place to be.

There are several schools (private and public) and lots of clubs/activities for the kids such as surf lifesavers, scouts, dance classes etc. There is also a great occasional care service at the community centre for the little one, where you get one session of childcare per week for $5!!! There are quite a few private childcare centres around, most of whom do kindy/school runs and pre and after school care.

Shops and supermarkets are all close by and the main shopping malls are 15 and 25 mins away by car.

Then of course there are all our beautiful beaches that cost nothing to explore in the rock pools, glide the surf on a boogie board and play on the golden sands.........

There are loads of lovely suburbs in Adelaide, we are lucky to live in one of them. Good luck with your research.
