Welcome to the forum. It could just be that it's early but I'm not sure if you are asking about if you can get a visa to come on holiday for a year or if there is enough to do for a year. If you are under 31 you can get a working holiday visa that will allow you to spend a year here, and even let you work if you wanted. There may be tourist visas that allow you to stay for a year but I'm not aware of any.

I guess you could spend a year in Adelaide, but if you were here for that long it would be a shame not to see much more of the country. You would certainly need ample funds to stay for a year without working, especially if you want to be able to do some of the more touristy stuff as it can all add up.

Thank you for the quick reply

I was hoping to use Adelaide as a base , I was over there last year for 3 weeks and just knew I couldn't see it all

I'm 51 so not interested and not able to work anyway ( too old) so touring for a year before I'm too old to do it sounds good

I have enough to support myself as il be camping mostly

I think I can get a holiday visa for 6 months but would really like a year just seeing how I stand

thanks David

There are some great camping facilities around Australia. I have a Big 4 membership that saves you 10% off the price and host of discounts around the areas that you will be staying (food, sights, activities).

My parents are visiting again at the moment. They bought an old VW van and travel around for months at a time.

There are many free camping areas too...the RAA and other places have some good books and of course there's a wealth of online material with reviews.

My parents usually spend between 3 and 6 months here. They have "broken" their stay by going to Bali or new Zealand after 3 months and then spending another 3 months here.

My OH is pestering me to sell up and get a motorhome and travel Oz! You won't run out of places to visit and things to do and the locals are real friendly!

Enjoy!
