Importing a Motorhome

Hi All,

we are thinking of Importing a motor home for when we arrive in Australia, could you please give us some advice to the pro's and cons.

what would the Au gov. charge and how long would it take to get through customs.

We will be settling in Adelaide, but wish to send the motor home up as far north as possible, the travel down to Adelaide.

The only advice I'd give is unless it's an off-road one sell it, a lot of the roads to the best spots are unsealed, you will quickly ruin a standard motor home or be extremely limited getting about to see this great country.

I'd have a chat to Iron Chef over on PIO. He lives here iirc and has an import business and is very knowledgable.

I'd perhaps look in to and consider buying one here. Loads of them around, very popular here and if the exchange rate is favourable coming over from the UK, may work for you.

Also it'd be easier to sell on should you wish. And no hassles with importing and so on.
