Moving in 2017

Let's agree to Diasgree. By the way I don't know where your getting your info from but Im not on a temp visa

I'm not getting any info about you from anywhere or anyone other than what you post yourself on here. I think you interpreted my post differently to how it was written. I had written an in general about people heading back to or moving to other states and also mentioned temp visa or SS (which is short for state sponsorship/PR visa holders). That was not aimed at you specifically, it was an in general comment and covered a number of bases re what people from different situations or visa types might do to seek work if its not happening here.

I did then mention that you yourself had gone interstate to live and work was all as you had said this elsewhere on the forum recently. I don't see where I stuck you with being a temp visa holder in that but appreciate it may have been read differently to how it was intended.

I have just received my permanent residency visa and we are hoping to move ASAP but we need to sell the house in the uk first which is proving difficult at the moment. We need to activate visas by April 2017 but me my wife and 19 and 7 year old daughters are coming with us. I'm an electrician and completed the skills assessment through Vetassess and the process was really quick apart from the mountain of paperwork you have to put together to prove you say what you are. I have read a few negatives about the electrical work in Adelaide. I am aware of the extra certification I need to do to get to Aussie standards and as a family we know it may me tough for the first year but hopefully it will all be worth it in the long run. Hopefully I will find a company who will be willing to give me an opportunity to prove myself and as soon as we know more about our moving date I wil email as many companies as I can to see what's available. I have heard positives and negatives about it but if anyone has any info of the best way into the industry over there I would be very grateful. We have looked at houses in the suburbs mainly to the south of Adelaide as you seem to get more for you're money but we will look wherever I can find the work.

Hello Everyone,

I have just joined the forum today but have been reading details here as a guest while i have been going through my SA state nominated 489 visa processing. It's really great to come in touch with people who are sailing the same boat or seek advise from people who have successfully sailed through. Looking for more interactions here and also share my experience in every ways possible that i could.

Christmas is round the corner so wishing everyone here Happy Holidays with a successful year 2017 to follow.

Regards,

Anik

hello!

im moving in January we leave uk on 23rd. It's taken nearly 2 years all together applying for visa, selling house and getting organised but finally we are almost there. We have a 4 year old girl and a 9month old boy. Will be in eastern suberbs. We didn't use a migration agent, we had all the info and did it direct, the agents are very expensive. Be nice to stay in touch, good luck with everything

@suzy Not long for you now :) Exciting times. You'll arrive as schools and kindy's start back so hopefully you can find a kindy or school for your eldest (depending on their age). The eastern suburbs are popular and some are lovely, well, most of them are IMHO. Give us a shout when you arrive and be sure to keep us updated if you can.

Good luck to all those awaiting visas or about to go through the process. Can't believe 2017 is only a week or so away and some will be making the move soon after.

Anyone out there reading who has yet to take the plunge and join the forum, please feel free to sign up and say hello. We always like to hear from you :)

Hi Snifter and Forum members

Would you please share or point me to a thread that has details about medical insurance that one can take while in SA for 489 visa as i understand that medicare is not covered and has to be self arranged.

Many thanks for your help in advance.

Regards,

Anik

Hello!

yes we have arrived safe and sound, moved into our rental and our stuff arrived last week so lots of unpacking! Elle my 4 year old is in rostrevor kindy and she loves it, my youngest is 1 next week. I am missing my 'mum' friends from home and would be great to meet some other people with children the same age. I struggle to fill the days during the week especially when it's so hot!! I'm sure I'll get used to it. Happy to be here
