Foreign languages in Adelaide

Hello everyone.

I will be relocating to Adelaide in October.

I have a Business and a Management degree which I obtained abroad. I was wondering, could foreign languages potentially be an asset in Adelaide and, if so, in which sectors? I speak Greek (mother tongue), I am fluent in English and French, and I have an intermediate level in Italian. Ideally I would like to get involved with events like festivals. I am also considering hotels.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm certain that they will come in handy. There's a large Greek/Italian contingent around the eastern and western suburbs. Also the Submarine contract is to be started under a French Company. You would certainly been an asset to converse in both English and French fluently.

In Adelaide is also a very huge population of Greek migrants, especially in the West. Lots of Greek restaurants and Greek Association hosts its yearly Greek festival in Semaphore and the Greek Club in the City in their Club home (my other half and me attended in our 1st year of arrival and it was fantastic!).

German used to be a common language but not anymore - especially in the Adelaide Hills and Klemzig region.

And the way you enunciate yourself in English I don't see any language barriers so far ;-)
