Want to play mixed social 5 a side football (proper football with a round ball...)

Hi all

I'm originally from London, and have been in Adelaide for nearly 7 years. I am 51 years old, not very fit, AND..... I want to form a mixed indoor 5-a-side football team . I haven't played team sports in donkey's years but I LOVE football. I don't believe age should be a barrier so if there's anyone out there - male or female aged 40's upwards who wants to play in a mixed team socially for fun and get fitter in the process then get in touch and let's make it happen. I live in Magill, Eastern suburbs and hope to hear from people whatever their skill or experience. Don't be shy - GIVE IT A GO MATE! (as they say here!)

Count me in. I am in Woodcroft but more than happy to travel up for this. Sounds like a good crack. Plus I am well unfit so this might be just what the doctor ordered. ;)

Hi all

I've had 4 responses to my ad so far, so hey... that's one whole 5-a-side team already! I love the 'can-do' spirit. So what if we're unfit? It's a bit of fun and some exercise and that's the main thing. Having said that maybe a refresher course in CPR wouldn't go amiss.....

Can we arrange a get-together/coffee either next week or the week after somewhere convenient for everyone?

So far I'm the only woman in the team but the day is young and the ad only went in yesterday so I'm eternally optimistic!

Let me know and we'll sort out a time/date/place. Keep asking around for team members though, as we'll need substitutes!

Cheers

Tracy

I can do CPR, but need someone to be able to do it on me for when the excitement gets too much LOL.

I'll start the ball rolling. How about we meet at Cibo in Norwood Parade on Anzac day 10am?

This is a long shot (no pun intended) but maybe we can all meet at Django's if he is babysitting the kids that day? I've also had a reply from an ad I put on Adelaide Gumtree and the bloke lives in Seacliff (is that South?) What do you think Django?

If you guys don't mind the trip south and a house full of children then you are more than welcome to come round. If its a nice day I could even stoke up the barbie. :v_SPIN:

Hi all

The recruitment campaign is going well! I am happy to travel down south for the meet up. Thanks django for offering to host.

I have found out there's a venue that caters for indoor soccer and it has a mixed league. I'll check it out. Could you ask your wives/girlfriends/partners if they would be willing to give it a try? I'm hoping for one other woman on the team....

So Django, can you let us have your phone number etc and I'll tell the bloke who responded to my other ad about the meeting on 26th.

Cheers and looking forward to seeing everyone.

Hi

We're trying to get a team together for fun social games. There are mixed social leagues so if we want we could join a league. At this stage I don't know any of the respondents so we are arranging a meet up to talk about it and get to know eachother. If you're keen then do come along.

OOPS, I MEANT TO SEND THIS MESSAGE TO CLASH 123. HAVE JUST DISCOVERED THE PRIVATE MSG BUTTON TOO LATE

Okay before this turns into another flaming gallah thread where the words 'pi55 up' and 'brewery' come to mind.:biglaugh: Are we talking about 'Anzac Day' Sunday 25th April or Anzac Day Public Holiday Monday 26th April.

Tracey is working the Monday so the Sunday is better for me. Either way I'm still happy to 'host' the event. I shall PM everyone on this thread that have shown interest my adress and phone number.

Looking forward to meeting everone. :jiggy:

Hi all

Well, I'm a bit glum today.... I phoned an indoor sports centre in Kidman Park and the bloke there said that in order to register a 'mixed' team there needs to be two women in the team. I haven't had any replies from women, so as far as mixed teams go, it isn't happening yet. Can any of you drum up some support from the women in your lives? It's great that Django is happy to host the meet-up but if we can't get another female then for me at least, it's a non-starter. Sigh......

Well as far as I'm concerned its your idea and so we need to find at least one other female member rather than throw any towels in.
