you are not the only oldies
Hi Babs & Kevin,
you are not the only oldies looking at going to Oz,Jacky and myself are hopefully going,I have a job offer with a 457 visa sponsorship and we are just starting to fill in the visa forms, what a nightmare ihave been self employed and ran my own company for over 18 years so none of my old employers are around anymore so i have to get 3 customers and 3 suppliers to say that i have been trading for so long but it will be worth it it the end I hope. How are you getting on.
Sorry I've taken a while to reply but haven't been on here for few days. I came to England when I was 12 so 40 years ago! That's makes me sound so old!! Didn't go back to Australia until 2003 for a holiday when we took the kids with us, then David and I went again 2 years ago with a couple of friends of ours. It was on that trip that we decided to move there as already it seemed a bit like home. I think I will miss England a bit as I have lived here so long and I will certainly miss my friends, so would love to meet up when we're all over there or before if you like. We are in Bournemouth so not too far away. All the best with your house sale.
Nice to have someone on here who was also born in Adelaide as I was. Actually I was born in Glenelg and lived in Warradale until I was 5 when we moved to Brighton. My parents, brother and sister emigrated on the £10 ticket. My mum started up 1st and 2nd Warradale Guide Companies and it was all dirt roads round there then. I moved to England when I was 12. Good luck with the spouse's visa. David got his last November, had to submit loads of statutory declarations saying we are in a continuing relationship - we've been married 29 years for heaven's sake! Good luck with the house as well, we've just gone on the market too.

Have you had your medicals etc done or are you literally just started the whole process? Have you family travelling with you.? Where about are you living in the uk? We are in the Portsmouth area.
Good luck with everything and keep in touch. Bye the way, yes,:v_SPIN: it is all worth it. How excited we are to be starting a new chapter in our lives.

The house sale isn't going too well at the moment. Need to drop the price to get a little movement I think. Will make a decision soon.

A Saturday or Sunday would be fine for us to meet up but we wouldn't be able to make it for a few weeks as we are redecorating Rachael's old bedroom and only get time at the weekends to do it. Can I get back to you on this? Do you go to Castlepoint shopping or to the town centre? We live not too far away from Castlepoint.
Bye for now
Hi Babz & Kevin,
No we have not had any medicals yet we have just started filling in the TRA forms and i am waiting for some of my customers and suppliers to come back to me with letters confirming i have been carrying out work for them,I have been told by the company who are dealing with the visa side of things for the company who have offered me the job that we only need an xray and not a medical but i am not sure if this is correct or not any suggestions?
We have 2 kids Katie is 24 and she is half way through doing a PHD in London so she will not be coming with us to start with but we hope we can talk her in to coming later, our son Nick is 22 and he has just been in oz and newzealand for the last 18 months and he loves it in Melbourne and he is looking at trying to get in on a studant visa. The job offer i have is for a 457visa and i have to go over on my own for 3 months to start with then if everything is ok Jacky will come over then,we dont know to put the house up for sale or to let it out with to start with.We are from the Bristol area but i have worked in the Portsmouth area quite a bit at the navy sites.
Did you both have to have the full medicals and what is the 119 visa.
Cheers for now Dave & Jacky.
