Dog Walks

Now the beaches are open to dog walking without restricted times anyopne fancy meeting up???. I have two German Shorthaired Pointers who love other dogs. We used to go to O'sullivans but my boys have taken to running into the bushes and during the hot days I worry about snakes. So we are looking at Moana where we can drive onto the beach. There is also a lovely Cafe there for refreshemtns and socialising afterwards. Both hubby and I work shifts so we do not have set times for walks. Happy for anyone with kids to come along so if you just fancy some leisurely excercise and company drop me a PM.

Also happy to go to any beach but prefer to steer clear of O'Sullivans until the winter lol

Have you been to Maslin beach? especially on the weekend mornings theres lots of dogs (we seen upto 15 dogs!!! at one time) the people are really friendly too its great to socialise the dogs down there and its a leash free beach from the ramp north all year round.

Give it a try and we may see you there

Ohhhhh we had the most wonderful Bernese until almost 3 years ago when we lost him to cancer, we move to South Australia next July (2013) as we are currently living in the middle east where dogs are a no no and the weather is super hot we have been waiting until we move to Australia to get another one. we visit this July and I am so looking forward to some cool weather and seeing dogs running on the beach. Bernese are the best :) Did you get them in South Australia?? Have been looking at Newfoundland breeders there but not Bernese, not sure if I had another one it would remind me of our boy all the time. Can't wait to join you all on your walks xxx

Hi Karen

We'll be there on Sunday morning around 9.30-10.30 so may see you there x

Paula,

we got both our dogs in Oz, we flew in "Bumble" our Bernese from wagga wagga but do know a breeder here in SA, in fact there is a Bernese club locally and they have a meet a few times a year at Maslin, we’ve never been but heard about it!!! you boy looks gorgeous x we lost Frazer our Newfie to cancer in the Uk so know how painful that is.

We got our Leonberger from NSW they are just great dogs both lovely natured, kind great with kids, "Leah" the leonburger follows our 7 year old everywhere x (yes you can tell our daughter named the dogs!!!)

We had a German Shepherd and a Newfoundland in the UK so love big dogs but have to say the Newfie was a bit slow on the uptake!!!! (mabe it was just him and not the breed in general!!) Whereas Bumble and Leah are very intelligent. Have you looked at Leonbergers if you think another Bernese would be a bit painful? They are quite rare but I can give you the breeders names if you like? and of course you are more than welcome to meet them when you come over !!

Thanks Kimx

Hi Kim,

Many thanks for the reply and the info - will def. be in touch once we are settled. We would ALL love to meet you when we come over. We are staying in a house near the beach at Moana from 27th July until 24th August this year. My 18 month old little boy has only seen Bernese about twice and the last time he was only about 7 months so keen to get him back with big dogs again. There are pretty much no dogs here out and about so craving some slobber and fur - the 2 cats just don't cut it! :)

Will have a chat to you if that's OK about suggestions for what to get - have the name already just have to decide on the breed.

Sullivan (Sully as in the monster from Monster's Inc - we had no children when he was named but both love the film and Disney) was the most amazing dog I have ever known he was very intelligent and loving and went everywhere with us he was our furry son. He was diagnosed on the 12th July (husbands birthday) and died 30th July, we wouldn't have changed it as he enjoyed his last day on the beach in the sea and at the park with his friends but so so painful. Husband has still not got over it. I have lost my father and my sister since so I don't know what I am numb from :(

Anyway, looking to the future our move, a new home and a puppy (or 2!) for our little boy. SO miss walks on the beach with the dog - the beaches here are man made and no dogs allowed on almost all of them. We are both from South West UK and often walked the cornish beaches so looking for a little cool weather and doggy friendly people.

Thanks again I will be in touch nearer the time. Best wishes

Paula
