Tough times in Semaphore Park

Hey all

So we've been back in Adelaide for 3 months now, after having had to return to the UK to get married after a year here in WHV back in 09, and are generally pleased to be back.

The only thing were both finding a bit hard is our massively reduced social life. We have a few couples we stayed in contact with but they all live in the northern suburbs which makes it a bit difficult to socialise with them sometimes especially given Australians seemingly flaky nature and comfortableness with cancelling at short notice (guess its the downside of the laid back attitude).

In the UK, my husband and I enjoyed lots of dinners with friends and often had parties and get-togethers at our house which we would like to get back to here. Having gone back to the UK and am 110% happy I want to be here just finding it a bit tough at the moment. I'm sure the situation is made worse by it being winter as everyone is hibernating but it would be good to get to know some of u guys ready to for the social summer

So if any of you are Semaphore, West Lakes, Tennyson, Woodville etc and are mid 20's to mid 30's ish and fancy going for Sunday brunches, Friday dinners or Saturday drinks give us a shout.

About us

Were a husband and wife from Essex I'm 29 my husband is 28 and we have no children yet.

I work in the city in marketing and the hubby is a shop fitter/carpenter working around the city.

We currently live in Semaphore park but enjoy going into the city or out to the wine regions for festivals etc.

My main hobbies are cooking and wine he he, my husband is very outdoorsie and enjoys climbing, swimming and anything that involves the hills and the sea.

Your husband might enjoy the surf life scene as there's lot's to do, especially in summer.

Give Semaphore SLSC a buzz.

Also, just take your time an meet people. You'll eventually have a wider circle of friends.

All the best,

Cooler

It just takes time to establish a social life.... and saying that, you'll probably meet many people here you call friends for a while and then you drift apart. That's life and part and parcel of the move. We have been here for 4 yrs now, 3.5 of those in Hallett Cove. Took what seemed forever to find good friends but I can quite happily say I know so many people- and consider so many more to be friends than I had in the UK. Yes I may live in "little britain" but the majority of my friends are Aussie. Actually, I have friends from Spain, South Africa, China and Ireland too. I have met most through the kids, but not all. I got involved at playgroup/ kindy/ school, joined the SES, now I'm studying and have more friends I have met at Uni. I am so lucky to live here and be surrounded by such beautiful people. Give it time and you'll feel the same way xxx
