Hi all,

well I have been here 6 months now and have had my ups and downs but keeping positive.

my misses and the kids have been here 3 months, the kids love it and are thriving but the misses is really homesick. She has left behind a strong family/friend base and is finding it difficult.

i am looking to find new people to socialise with to cheer her up. If you are interested PM me.

i am 33 the misses is 30 and we have 2 girls aged 4 and 3.

speak soon

I'm not what you are looking for - kids too old, I'm too old, work pretty much full-time etc etc but...

Firstly, I think posting on here is a wonderful, thoughtful and proactive idea. Identifying a possible problem and dealing with it before it becomes insurmountable can make the difference between staying and going back to the UK.

I also wanted to add that I think a lot of people can understand where your wife is coming from. I know we left lots of people I love very much and it's so hard when you think, "Oh, I can't wait to tell..." or "I'll just pop round..." but it does get better.

One of the nicest things about coming with littlies is that you do pretty much everything with them. That means that any friends they make at kindy or whatever can become your social circle. So I would advise your wife (and forgive me if this is stating the obvious!) to look at organised activities for the kids, then be open, relax and wait. It will happen, I'm sure as.

We have found that our friends come from different parts of our lives - family, work mates, through hobbies, volunteering etc but mostly, through our kids. I think most people with little kids are open to new friendships if for no other reason than they're potential play dates lol!

I am sure you'll get waaay more hopeful posts than this and I hope it works out for your family.

That's a shame your a long way from us we r down south

We are from st Clair, yes I am working and have done since I arrived. The misses is at home with the kids all the time and it can sometimes drive her around the bend.

Hi, we're meeting at West Lakes Hotel on Friday (just put a post on here), your more than welcome to join us (with your girls), we have a Scouser within the group who has his mum and aunt over at the minute, so they'll be an accent you recognise to make you feel at home!

Feel free to PM me (or your wife) for any more info

Hi Kerri, sorry for the late reply! I can't seem to work out how to PM you? We live in Henley Beach- what about you? x

As a new member your account is a moderated one. So the first few posts need to be approved by a mod. And also your PM facility won't kick in for a bit then either.
