adelaides "see thru" bar

Recommended Posts

In preperation for spending some time in Adelaide in the new year with a good friend i have been getting "advice" from those over here that "know stuff":)

Allegedly I must go to the station at adelaide and have a "Pie Floater"

Also, as per the title, I must also go to Adelaides "See thru" Bar and try to order a meal from any one of the waitresses AND I must ensure I order an ice cream and watch them prepare it!

Can anyone fathom these cryptic peices of advice for me please?

A pie floater is an Aussie delicacy roughly equivalent to a kebab on a Sat night.

A pie of your choice, usually meat based, is placed in a bowl and green pea soup is oured all over it so the pie floats, hence the name. I am assured a beef meat pie is the best combination. Sadly I have had a stomach disorder for more than a year that stops me trying one:p:p:biglaugh:

I have no idea about the other thing.

I am still waiting to obtain further information but I understand it is a restaurant as opposed to a strip club:)

Still can't find it I'm afraid.

I'll ask the lads on Thursday night - they WILL know it:idea:

Possibly referring to "Hotties" restaurant on (I think) Hindley St. Haven't been there so I can't actually confirm any rumours but the adverts outside seem to imply something of that manner!

Maybe someone ought to do a recce?

Yeah - C'mon Michelle be sport!!!:biglaugh:

You know what, my boss has wanted to go in there since we moved to this part of the building. I told him I'd go in with him. The sign says "Adelaide's newest concept in dining, beautiful girls and fabulous food!"

You couldn't possibly have seen me; I am a master of disguise and may only be seen if I wish it to appear as though I was there. Which quite plainly I wasn't.

So there!:err:

It should be mentioned that, like a Kebab, the pie floater should be preceded by moderate quantities of alcohol in order to line the stomach, but not so much as to upset the stomach. It is a fine line, but worth it when you get it right. A friend of mine used to enjoy disconnecting their electricity after he had eaten his, butI think they have a security device on it now!

Hello TACD

On the pie floater front, bad news it would seem......:(

According to Peter Goers, the pie cart at the station has been sacrificed for the sake of a tram:

The destruction of SA's icon, it seems, unless a new cart has been arranged elsewhere. OMGG though: Here is a picture of this 'delicacy.'

Still researching the other emporium. I will ask my friend Lisa to find out for you.

Cheers

Gill

Hi Gollywobbler,

This news is a disaster.

Eating a pie floater at the station in Adelaide was on my bucket list.

Lets hope they don't cancel the New Year Fireworks in Sydney or shut the bridgeto climbers or worse still

Close the olive farm we are visiting in Adelaide

Word is that the Casino bought out the pie cart as they did not want it blocking up their frontage.

The cart itself is now in an open air museum at Tailem Town. Not seen another cart about but hopefully someone will prove me wrong.

Don't worry - the olive grove will still be there and hopefully HMS Decadence :biglaugh:

Or it might be "Sheil B Rite"..just going through boat names.:)
