Has anyone been to any of the stages?

I have been to the Willunga and city events in the past...

From South Australia Tourism...

South Australia will once again welcome the best cyclists from around the world to the Santos Tour Down Under from 16-24 January 2016. First held in 1999 the Santos Tour Down Under has grown year on year to become the biggest cycling festival in the southern hemisphere. The Santos Tour Down Under is an action packed nine days of world class cycling featuring exhilarating stages along with a vast range of events and experiences to entertain, from participation rides to street parties and more.

New race routes were launched this morning for the 2016 Santos Tour Down Under by the Minister for Tourism and Race Director, Mike Turtur. The racing action will kick off in Adelaide and then head into South Australia’s beautiful regions.

Thrilling sprints, classic battles to the finish and tough climbs are again in store as the world’s best cyclists tackle new challenges like iconic Adelaide climb Norton Summit Road – plus crowd favourites like Willunga Hill are back.

Stages for the 2016 Santos Tour Down Under are:

· Down Under Classic - Adelaide – 51 km - Sunday January 17

· Stage 1 – Prospect to Lyndoch – 130.8 km - Tuesday January 19

· Stage 2 – Unley to Stirling – 132 km - Wednesday January 20

· Stage 3 – Glenelg to Campbelltown – 139 km - Thursday January 21

· Bupa Stage 4 – Norwood to Victor Harbor – 138 km - Friday January 22

· Bike Exchange Stage 5 – McLaren Vale to Willunga Hill – 151.5 km – Saturday January 23

The Santos Festival of Cycling will return in 2016 bigger and better. You can register now to ride the Bupa Challenge Tour, the TDU’s recreational ride from Norwood to Victor Harbor.

There are activities for everyone- you can head to Family Day on Stage 6, join the Ladies Day on Tour, go to the Legends’ Night Dinner, register the kids to ride in the Bupa Mini Tour for Kids, support the Santos Women’s Tour back for the second year or attend the numerous street parties and council hosted celebrations throughout the week.

In 2015 the Santos Tour Down Under injected a record $47.9 million into the South Australian economy. The annual cycling event attracted 786,022 spectators, with 37,370 visiting the state specifically to attend the event providing 614 equivalent full time jobs.

Visit www.tourdownunder.com.au for more race route information.

I urge you to get involved and enjoy the ride.
