Hi, I've been in South Australia since 2012 and am looking at a new career so have been researching buying a Jim's mowing franchise. The amount that it is suggested can be earned doesn't look massive, but is more than I am currently on. Anyone have any experience with one of the Jim's franchises? How good are they at getting you work and are they worthwhile financially? I have heard that quite a few English people have taken on the franchises. Thanks, Tommy

So we have a SA SS Subclass 190 and now we intend to move to Adelaide soon. God forbid, we don't get the kind of jobs we are looking for(especially DH who is the primary applicant and by far we haven't seen much positive written/advertised about his field of work-facilities management), I understand that we can appeal and take a waiver from SA and move elsewhere if a job offer is on hand. If we take this path and move ahead elsewhere, how does it(and does it at all) affect Citizenship prospects in the future? I have read very mixed opinions on other forums outside of PIA and would really appreciate someone with absolute knowledge about this responding to my query.

Just wondering if anyone is having as much trouble as I am finding work?? I am 23 & have four years experience in freight forwarding, customer service and admin, but I cannot catch a break? It can't be that nowhere is hiring, yet everywhere I have emailed or called has advised me they are not hiring, or I hear nothing back?? Is this the norm??

I just wanted to inform people who are in the process of emigrating to Adelaide and their career intentions is to work within the health and social care sector of Adelaide. Well the good news is there is lots of work our here, far far more than I ever expected when I was back in the UK, whilst waiting for visa to arrive and worrying if I could get work in Adelaide. Before I came over I got four job offers, then when I arrived within the two weeks I got offered another six job offers. I ended up bcoming a Rehabilitation Consultant on behalf of Workcover SA. Well I hated my job, so I literally walked out of my job at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday 16th june 2010, I literally dropped everything and had enough, told the managers and I just walked out. Soon as I got out of the building I got in car and went on the internet via my mobile phone. I telephone five companies asking for jobs, all five asked me to go and see them. So immediately I went off to see these potential employers. By 5 pm that same day I had got all the five jobs. Four job offers managing community care projects, e.g. homecare manager, mental health care worker, community care manager, team leader role and also a role as a Rehabilitation Consultant again but this time with a different comapany. Today I have got another four interviews and two more over the telephone. Please dont worry about gaining employment in health and social care, if you are experienced then you have no worries. I have accepted the Rehabilitation Job so far and start this Monday 21st June 2010. But you never know I may take a better offer today. My daughter Shannon aged nearly 17 years old, she has already completed 6 months of an hairdressing apprenticeship whilst in the UK. After being here for five weeks in Adelaide. Shannon is now getting bored and has no friends or any socialising funds/money. Therefore she is after a suitable job, either in a shop, or, in a hairdressers, or, a office junior role. She did mention she would like to be a dentist assistant. Just wondering if anyone has any employment opportunities for her. We all have jobs and she is stuck in all day everyday. I feel for her. We hope to hear from you very soon????
