  8. We are currently a family of 5 although we are expecting another baby in December 2015. We live in the beautiful suburb of Beaumont which is approx 7km to the centre of Adelaide city. We live in an area with great bush walking and bike riding tracks. There is a bus stop 100m from our home that takes you directly to Adelaide city. Both parents are professionals who also love spending time with their children and take a very hands on approach. The au pair will mainly need to care for one or two children on the days that the mother works. At this stage that is 3 days a week currently Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Preparing meals like sandwiches and pasta for the children will be required, as will some light house duties such as washing clothes though no ironing! We are a loving down to earth family who love spending time outdoors, bike riding and camping. We live in a large 4 bedroom 3 toilet home where the au pair will have her own room, board, TV, Wifi and desk for studying. She would share a bathroom with the children. We are looking for someone to become a part of our family and to be looked upon as a big sister by our children. The au pair is required to assist our children to become respectful, independent and caring individuals, and as such the au pair need only guide and help them to do things for themselves. The au pair will be solely responsible for looking after one or two of the children 3 days of the week whilst the mother works. Help in the afternoons with basic homework for the older children (listening to reading and help with maths) would be appreciated. A drivers licence is not required as we live within walking distance to parks and a kindergarten. This position would suit someone studying either Early Childhood Education, Psychology and any Allied Health area where the individual would like to work predominantly in paediatrics. The au pair will have weekends off (although 1 or 2 weekend evening a month of babysitting would be much appreciated) and 2 days during the week off (currently Monday and Tuesday). This position includes room and board, and negotiated pocket money for the week.
  9. Guys, get ready for a long post regarding a popular issue. Looks like SA is desperate to increase migrants disregarding the fact that jobs are very limited. From my observation I can see so many posts in blogs and discussion forums titled " Can I move interstate as I can’t find my job here in SA" or something like that. This has become a very serious issue recently. Neither DIAC nor SA department is clearly advising on the issue. I have two dimensions to discuss the issue: A. What DIBP and SA officially say about the issue? B. What are the consequences of moving other states before allowed time? A) Statement of DIBP and SA: DIBP says "There could have been some residential conditions that were specified by the relevant state or territory government in your nomination. Contact the state or territory government for more information"- Okay! Clear enough? My question: Why DIBP is not telling “You ‘have to’ follow state requirement as they have sponsored you to get this visa”. This would have cleared confusion form their end at least. Now let us see what SA says- “12.2 Applicants must demonstrate a genuine interest in South Australia and a commitment to live and work in the state for at least two years by: Undertaking first-hand, thorough and meaningful research on South Australia. Providing your reasons for your interest in immigrating to South Australia in the on-line application 12.2.2 Undertaking relevant research on job opportunities and any licensing/registration requirements…..“ When it comes to ‘demonstrate interest’, I think most people will just do that anyway! Also so many people don’t get the real picture until they land on SA. I know many have applied despite knowing the fact of ‘job scarcity’ just to secure the visa. After all it’s PR!!! My question: Why SA is not telling” You must have to stay at least 2 years as per your declaration to fulfill sponsorship criteria. B) Consequence of moving other states and impact on Citizenship Application: On the ground of above issue, there is nothing we find from DIBP or State about the consequences on applying for citizenship. This should be clarified by both the authority with possible outcomes against varying situations. Hope some expert would shed some light on this. Regards Ehsan

  18. Hi to all, We land in Adelaide on the Wednesday 10th February and we have short-term rental in Seaton. We have gained the Skilled Migration (subclass 475) Visa. I have a daughter who is currently aged 16 years old and will be 17 years old on the 8th April. What I am aware of is that she has to be in some way in compulsive education (School or TAFE) until she is 17 years old, unless she has a job working over 25 hours. I do not see the point in enrolling her in education for a couple of months till she is 17 years old. Currently she is working full-time on an amazing Hairdressing Apprenticeship in an excellent Salon in Newcastle upon Tyne and she loves it, especially with the good wage she gets. As you may guess she does not want to go to Adelaide with us because of her job, friends and especially her first love the dreaded boyfriend. So under duress! We have agreed that she comes to Adelaide until she is 18 years old and then she is an Adult and can then decide if she wants to remain in Adelaide or go back to the UK. So of course she is determined to go back to the UK and I get the impression that she is going to cause us quite a few problems in the year she resides in Adelaide. I have sorted out a lot of potential male and female friends she can meet up with and get to know once in Adelaide, who have all been in her situation and of similiar ages. I know our kids dont like their parent/s to arrange friends for them, but this gesture by me - her dad is meant well, plus it gives me chance to hang around with their parent/s lol. These potential friends have sent my daughter messages via MSN Messenger and Facebook but my daughter just will not entertain them, even in one of my previous posts I have mentioned that I will be having a BBQ Party for those older teenagers and young adults to attend and gain the chance to socialise and hopefully meet new friends. Neverthless once she has arrived and met some of these new people and starts to enjoy the good weather etc., I am hoping that that mind set in returning to the UK will be changed. Problem though!!! Ideally I would like my daughter to continue with her Hairdressing Career, ideally with an appropriate hairdressing apprenticeship/job here in Adelaide. Attending TAFE is a no go area as we are on the 475 visa and at this moment in time I cannot afford the relevant education fees. I am quite confident that once she has gained a good social network she will then settle and hopefully stay for good. But it's the gaining the hairdressing career for her whilst she is in Adelaide I am extremely worried about. SO WHAT DO I DO ????? Paramount that she gains hairdressing opportunities.!!!
  19. I have been given a telephone job interview for this Monday 08:00 a.m. Adelaide time. This is where I get confused. I have been aware of this interview coming up for Glenside Hospital for months now. This interview was via a Recruitment Agency called Randstad. Via the Recruitment Agency's correspondence I assumed it was just a chat about what opportunities they may have for me because of the improvements being currently developed at Glenside Hospital . Thats the impression I gained from previous correspondence from them. Yesterday I received an e-mail stating that the telephone job interview is for a post of a Mental Health Nurse Level 1 within 1G Lyell McEwin Hospital and a NUM Ms Howell is conducting the interview. Eh? Where has this come from??? What happened to Glenside Hospital Interview??? What does 1G Mean ??? NUM ??? I have always been involved within the Health & Social Sector, some of the jobs I have done are the following: Care Manager of Home Care, Manager of several Small Residential Mental Health Homes also Learning Disabilities, Senior Community Care Manager in Disabilities. Health & Social Lecturer & Tutor & Teacher & Trainer. University external moderator for the examination board of Health & Social Care exams. Trainer. Been a Prison Teacher and Special Needs Teacher. A Homelessness Housing Manager. Also I have managed Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation Homes. I have a Masters in Project Management and my Degree is in Health Studies, I have also gained my Further Education Teaching Qualifications. So you can guess that I have vast amounts of experience within the various fields of Health & Social Care and the relevant qualifications to back it up. This is my confusion. I have never worked in an hospital setting and I dont have any actual Nursing experience or any of the Nursing qualifications. Nearest thing I have to Nursing is that I have taught Palliative Care, Moving and Handling Techniques and Safe Handling of Medicines to Nursing students. I was wondering because of my skills, knowledge and experiences do you think this job interview is for a Nursing post and that the Central Northern Adelaide Health Service are willing to train me up to be a Nurse. As stated above the interviewer will be NUM Ms Howell - What does NUM stand for? I am aware that there is a shortage of Nurses in Australia so do you think that this job involves me training to be a Mental Health Nurse, Level 1. Is Level 1 in Nursing a training level, also what is the salarly for that level.

  21. I've been looking at jobs in Adelaide to sort something out before I come over in September and a lot are saying I can't apply until I have an Australian address... Didn't know if this is the case and whether I should stop looking until I come over?
