  4. I work for an IT Consulting company in Sri Lanka. We have a branch in Mel CBD but it's not an office where anyone operates from...all employees working for the Aus branch works at customer locations all over Aus 100% of the time so it's just where the business registered address only. One of our customers is from Shepparton and I'm required to work on a project for them in Shepparton. The Shepparton zip code is in a regional area My 489 is from SA..... The question is... if I work for the Aus Branch (Mel-CBD) BUT is required to Work 100% from Shepparton.... is this in-line with the laws and regulations of the 489 taking into consideration my 489 is from SA. Note that my wife and son will be living in SA (which is regional everywhere) and I will be commuting every 2-3 weeks back to Adelaide for a few days. Regards Chris

  12. Hi all I've tried to find an answer to this question on the forum but I'm yet to find someone who has been in the SAME situation. So this question is posed to anyone who has: A) worked outside of their nominated state (on a 176 visa) and B) received their citizenship. But if you have some knowledge outside of that, I'm all ears I'm in the situation where I'm battling to find work in my nominated state. I have been offered a very good job by a state outside of my nomination. The company has offered some support though, and I will be able to work from home (in my nominated state) and they will even register an office in my state (so I can also get paid from my state). The job will require me to fly to other states for work (1 week away, 2 weeks back home), but most of the time I will be working from home. I've emailed my state for advice and they gave me a vague answer; they didn't decline the request, but they don't seem to happy with it either. I know they legally can't stop me BUT I am looking to get citizenship. Will this come back to haunt me (I've only been here 3 weeks)? Or is their no repercussion? OR is what I'm doing perfectly legit? Ideally I'm looking for people who have had this same problem and have had a solid answer. I think because of the grey area I am never going to get a solid answer from state websites. Hope this post can help others too. PS: Australia is AWESOME! Love it here so far!

I thought I might get some interest from this forum or you may know of someone that may be interested: Lead & Assistant Coaches Little Kickers launched in Australia in May 2009 and is an International company founded in the UK with classes now operating all over the world. Our Adelaide franchise is launching classes late October 2011 in Athelstone and further classes in the Northern and Western suburbs to follow. To be successful in this role you must have good verbal communication skills and be comfortable in front of a group. A passion for sport and an interest in soccer is also essential for these roles and a good level of physical fitness is required. Full training will be provided, however we would welcome applications from people with previous sports coaching experience or working with children including parenting. You must have a personal commitment to sustaining professional working practices in the workplace at all times including excellent time-keeping and punctuality skills. You must have the ability to work as part of a team. As we work with children a full criminal police check is required and the lead coach must have a valid first aide certificate or be willing to obtain one prior commencing work with us. Also being in possession of a drivers licence and car would be an advantage. Our classes are on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. 22. I just wanted to inform people who are in the process of emigrating to Adelaide and their career intentions is to work within the health and social care sector of Adelaide. Well the good news is there is lots of work our here, far far more than I ever expected when I was back in the UK, whilst waiting for visa to arrive and worrying if I could get work in Adelaide. Before I came over I got four job offers, then when I arrived within the two weeks I got offered another six job offers. I ended up bcoming a Rehabilitation Consultant on behalf of Workcover SA. Well I hated my job, so I literally walked out of my job at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday 16th june 2010, I literally dropped everything and had enough, told the managers and I just walked out. Soon as I got out of the building I got in car and went on the internet via my mobile phone. I telephone five companies asking for jobs, all five asked me to go and see them. So immediately I went off to see these potential employers. By 5 pm that same day I had got all the five jobs. Four job offers managing community care projects, e.g. homecare manager, mental health care worker, community care manager, team leader role and also a role as a Rehabilitation Consultant again but this time with a different comapany. Today I have got another four interviews and two more over the telephone. Please dont worry about gaining employment in health and social care, if you are experienced then you have no worries. I have accepted the Rehabilitation Job so far and start this Monday 21st June 2010. But you never know I may take a better offer today. Good Luck to all who are searching for work within this field, either here in Adelaide or back in the UK Tony
  23. My daughter Shannon aged nearly 17 years old, she has already completed 6 months of an hairdressing apprenticeship whilst in the UK. After being here for five weeks in Adelaide. Shannon is now getting bored and has no friends or any socialising funds/money. Therefore she is after a suitable job, either in a shop, or, in a hairdressers, or, a office junior role. She did mention she would like to be a dentist assistant. Just wondering if anyone has any employment opportunities for her. We all have jobs and she is stuck in all day everyday. I feel for her. We hope to hear from you very soon????
  24. Hi to all, We land in Adelaide on the Wednesday 10th February and we have short-term rental in Seaton. We have gained the Skilled Migration (subclass 475) Visa. I have a daughter who is currently aged 16 years old and will be 17 years old on the 8th April. What I am aware of is that she has to be in some way in compulsive education (School or TAFE) until she is 17 years old, unless she has a job working over 25 hours. I do not see the point in enrolling her in education for a couple of months till she is 17 years old. Currently she is working full-time on an amazing Hairdressing Apprenticeship in an excellent Salon in Newcastle upon Tyne and she loves it, especially with the good wage she gets. As you may guess she does not want to go to Adelaide with us because of her job, friends and especially her first love the dreaded boyfriend. So under duress! We have agreed that she comes to Adelaide until she is 18 years old and then she is an Adult and can then decide if she wants to remain in Adelaide or go back to the UK. So of course she is determined to go back to the UK and I get the impression that she is going to cause us quite a few problems in the year she resides in Adelaide. I have sorted out a lot of potential male and female friends she can meet up with and get to know once in Adelaide, who have all been in her situation and of similiar ages. I know our kids dont like their parent/s to arrange friends for them, but this gesture by me - her dad is meant well, plus it gives me chance to hang around with their parent/s lol. These potential friends have sent my daughter messages via MSN Messenger and Facebook but my daughter just will not entertain them, even in one of my previous posts I have mentioned that I will be having a BBQ Party for those older teenagers and young adults to attend and gain the chance to socialise and hopefully meet new friends. Neverthless once she has arrived and met some of these new people and starts to enjoy the good weather etc., I am hoping that that mind set in returning to the UK will be changed. Problem though!!! Ideally I would like my daughter to continue with her Hairdressing Career, ideally with an appropriate hairdressing apprenticeship/job here in Adelaide. Attending TAFE is a no go area as we are on the 475 visa and at this moment in time I cannot afford the relevant education fees. I am quite confident that once she has gained a good social network she will then settle and hopefully stay for good. But it's the gaining the hairdressing career for her whilst she is in Adelaide I am extremely worried about. SO WHAT DO I DO ????? Paramount that she gains hairdressing opportunities.!!!
