CFS Updates on my many social networks feeds posted this just now. Thought I would share, just in case.

From September 1 2014, when you see a stationary emergency vehicle with red or blue flashing lights, you must slow down to 25km/h. Whether it’s an ambulance, MFS, CFS, SES or police vehicle, it’s your responsibility to protect those that are protecting you and others in the community.

Just to be clear, it's 'when passing' an emergency vehicle. 'When you see a stationary emergency vehicle' is far too general; you might well be able to see one on a side street or parallel road. The change can be found in the speed limits section of the Handbook:

Thank you. I figured that much. Common sense tells me it's for when I am passing it directly.

I copied what was posted, I didn't mess with the wording. Their wording perhaps needs to be revised.

The current speed limit is dropping, hopefully people will be aware. And if they didn't know of the current speed limit they do now.

I hadn't found the direct link to the revised rule so thanks for posting that :)
