Sydney Hotels and flights

Got relatives coming in Jan/Feb. and fancy a look to Sydney late January or arly February I've been before and stayed at Travelodge Wynyard ( basic but great for what we wanted) any other ideas on reasonable accommodation and has anyone flown with Virgin airlines, dont fancy jetstar and not sure about Virgin as I usually fly Qantas - any help would certainly be appreciated as I want to book up soon as Virgin flights seem to be reasonable at the moment.

Anyone flown to Sydney with Virgin airlines - how do they compare with Qantas (dont really fancy jetstar) any good avice on flights and reasonable hotels would be very welcome. Been to Sydney a few times but not recently so I'm out of touch.

Hoping to go late January or early February when we have family visiting, any help would be great.

I did post this on the travel forum but I didn't know if anyone would see it there!! Sorry if its in the wrong place.

i like virgin airlines, but for the amount of time u spend on the plane i dont think it matters who u go with, qantas are fine, and i never had any problems with jetstar, just avoid tigerairways lol, as for hotels, booking.com is a good site to look at, when we went first time we stayed at the great southern hotel on george street, it was 3 or 4 star but cheap and comfortable, had no probs with the hotel, and last time we went we stayed at the casino, very nice but a bit pricey

the menzies hotel is in a ideal spot, its where we stay all the time in sydney, in fact the wife and son will be there 2 morrow night for there cruise monday am.

Travelodge Wynyard is in a good spot , breakfast pretty good but pay for it when you check in its cheaper.

Travel would have been the right place. People can see which sections of the forum have new posts, depending on how they view the forum. It'll show up with a new topic icon/colour from the main menu. From the home page all new topics are listed so it will be seen there and if people view from 'New posts' it will also show up in that list. So no real reason to cross post :)

I'm going to merge the threads together in the travel section as we'd like people to try to make use of the forum in full and encourage use of the other sections.
