Stardust Circus

Hi,

 

Stardust Circus is coming to Mt Barker this weekend (in the city next week), and we are taking my two young boys to see it. We are all really looking forward to it, especially me, as I've always wanted to go to a circus since childhood! The only question I have, and was wondering if anyone had been in previous years, is, how warm or cold should I expect it to be inside? Just wanting the kids to be kitted out right so they don't get too cold so as not to enjoy it!

I'm afraid I haven't been to the circus here but do have experience of the Moscow State circus in Birmingham not long before we left the UK. We went at Christmas time so it was freezing and very frosty if I recall. Anyway we felt chilly inside the tent too so I would say take layers just in case as I'm sure you're now starting to see that Adelaide can be very chilly after dark.

 

Also if this circus is anything like the MSC, try not to sit too near the front (although you may have ring side tickets already) as my husband ended up taking part in the circus when the clowns decided he looked like a perfect helper! It was hilarious...

Thanks for that, we are settling in fine, and yes, it certainley can get cold!! We have elevated front view chairs, didn't really want ring side just in case kids get wet, or are a little bit daunted by it all! Hopefully it will be fun for all, and we'll wrap up warm!!

Hi, we went to the circus at the weekend and really enjoyed the show. We had warm clothes on and would advise a coat - we went to the evening show.

I would say dress warm and take their coats that way if they need them they can put them on!!

sorry if this offends anyone but IMO it is grotesque to see animals caged and performing in a circus in this day and age!!

 

Paying to see them perpetuates further misery

We went to the `animal free` circus in the UK and thought it was pretty boring TBH

 

And those animals that perform have a pretty good life compared to the way some animals are treated and the money paid to see them contributes to that life

I think you will find that the rspca and many animal rights groups disagree and in fact circus animals are banned in some states in australia

 

Most of those poor animals spend 90 percent of their time locked in small cages and trucks without any socialisation

 

In fact recently one of their elephants crushed its keeper,thought to be due to the fact that circus life had driven it mad!!

Many zoo animals are kept in worst conditions (Dudley Zoo in the UK for example) and I don`t want to turn round and tell my daughters that they can`t go to see it because of some do-gooders views

Well when I replied to the original post I hadn't realised the circus came complete with animals. I saw the advert on TV last week and couldn't believe that in this day and age they are still allowed to perform. Have to say I agree with Puff the Dragon and don't like it at all. It's a personal thing I guess but there we are.

 

And lastboyscout if you think a circus without animals is boring then that's a shame. I was lucky enough to see the Moscow State Circus before leaving the UK and was amazed at the brilliance of it and there wasn't an animal in sight.

 

I usually steer clear of debates on here but couldn't on this one as i totally agree that paying to see this will make sure this kind of 'entertainment' continues. Yuk.

Its only become a debate since someone posted their personal opinion so I posted my thoughts

 

Someone elses opinion should be kept just that ..... personal , not thrust upon others to try and change their own views

 

If I posted my personal opinion on here, it would take no time at all before I got banned , so I have to bite my tongue

 

And I`m taking my kids to see the animals in the circus because in the UK I was taken to do the same when I was a nipper, I loved it, but the ` PC brigade ` over there stopped my kids from seeing animals performing, I hope they will love it just as much as I did.

 

When they are older and wiser and can form their own opinions, they will be respected and supported in whatever they believe in, if they say to me when we are there that they don`t like animals and they look unhappy then I`ll take them away from it , not when someone is telling me they are treated badly and I shouldn`t go because of it

I quite pften read things on this forum and can't believe what I am reading every one is different and each to thier own if we were all the same life would be dull

as for circus animals that is some thing people should agree to disagree instead of getting political

Hi, i went to the circus on Saturday and i have to say the animals played a very small part in the show and i didn't really feel that they performed as such, i felt they were just on show and led around the ring. The children enjoyed being able to see them, i myself am not keen on the thought of animals been made to do tricks and things that are not natural to them. I believe that there were strict guidelines set down regarding the animals and their freedom to roam before permission was given for them to be able to hold the circus in adelaide. I found out that snippet of information when i was searching for the circus online to be able to book my tickets!
