Bike costs - Cleaning bike tips

Just realised that someone has just posted the same question about the cost of bikes.

I was cleaning all our bike yesterday and realised my 10 year olds front brakes weren't working. Took it in to a local bike shop this morning to be told it would cost around £65 inc parts and labour. Apaprently needs total new disc brakes as he has somehow snapped something off that would need replacing. The bike cost £135, so not worth repairing. So just wondered whether to buy one here and take it with us or buy when we get there?

TIP: No matter how many times I cleaned the tyres, they still looked dirty. So I sprayed them with some back to black that was in the garage and they came up great.
