totally agree with the post re Glenelg - full of teenagers who cant handle their drink. There are fireworks on at Glenelg from around 9am most families head to hilly areas overlooking Glenelg then head home when they are finished As far as midnight goes, Adelaide is a bit of a wash out - I come from Edinburgh where parties lasted until the wee hours!!! We at Flagstaff Hill suburb hire the local community centre and have a bit of a "Poms" hogmany party with disco and bagpipes, then we know we are within staggering home range!!

Have a good one!

The two main NYE celebrations are at Elder Park in the City, and Moseley Square in Glenelg. Both have fireworks. Glenelg is always the most crowded and raucous. Semaphore and Henley Square also hold NYE celebrations, with fireworks, and are both a bit more laid-back. As for venues, most City venues hold special NYE celebrations. The Adelaide Casino (North Tce) always has big parties. This year, PJ O'Briens (East Tce) will be holding an 80s night. And remember, public transport is free AFTER midnight. Be prepared to wait a long time for Taxis.

If you have children we can recommend the children's session of fireworks at Elder Park. They set up food stalls and music on the lawns next to the Festival Centre. If you then walk up towards the weir you will find lots of room to have a picnic on the lawn opposite Pinky Flat and will get a great view of the fireworks. Some people stay on for both fireworks sessions if the weather is nice.

We parked at North Adelaide and walked down but our kids are 13 and 14 and younger ones may not be able to walk that far.
