...if you're out and about this holiday, don't park your car or set up your picnic table under any gum trees.

 

Just watched a huge branch just drop off a tree in the park opposite us - no wind, perfectly healthy branch, no reason - just bang, and down it fell! They do this in dry weather apparently, just shed branches at a whim. This one would have taken out anyone underneath it at the time (luckily there wasn't anyone...)

....and that's why they are called 'widow makers' ( specially the ghost gum) so good advice I reckon!
