Cherry trail

Not sure whether people are aware of this but Adelaide is famous for its cherries that are grown up in the Hills. There is something called the cherry trail that we drove at the weekend that takes you through some pretty spectacular countryside and the cherries themselves were fantastic. We liked the ones from the Torrens Valley Orchard near Gumeracha and then went and fed the animals at the Rocking Horse-a really enjoyable couple of hours and it got the children interested in fruit and where it comes from. Don't expect anything too fancy at the orchards, it literally is just lots of cherries for sale but well worth it!

Sounds great Richard or Joanne ,thats one of the things we are looking forward to simple enjoyable days out with the kids, without having to go to a theme park , you'll have to take us there when we arrive, Cheers Graham & Jacqui

Forest Range Cherries are the best for PYO cherries - they were around before any of the others and they still have the best prices. You can check when they have stuff available on their website http://www.cherries.net.au. I think the owner is a pom. The season is mainly thru decemebr but check because it varies a lot from year to year.
