We like to get out and about both in are campervan and we also use tents as well ,not sure if we could cope with the heat in the summer in a tent over there.

So what are the camp sites like ,we use the haven sites alot ,they have a lot of entertainment for the kids,we don't mind quiet parks as well ,were just trying to get a bit of info.weve been out the last 2 weekends already ,we have needed are thermals:biglaugh:

There are loads of camping/caravan parks. They are not as lively as Haven parks, and don't tend to have big organised entertainment, but many have swimming pools, childrens playgrounds, BBQ areas.

These are 2 major chains, plus there are lots of private parks. We've only stayed in cabins so far (like a bed and air conditioning)!, but everywhere we have been has been good.

We stayed in a place near Victor Harbor last year when we were over. Small, quiet with some cabins, some caravans and then pitches for tents, campers and so on. Nothing exciting to do at the camp but that was fine for us. We were able to walk to the beach from it, playpark nearby, short drive into Victor itself. We were down there with some family for a couple of nights. Was just nice to have a break and slow down a bit I found. Had plenty of BBQ's for people to use, a few games and so on in the kitchen/eating area. Did a few touristy things in the day, had lunch out and so on.

Hubby used to go camping a lot when he was still over there. Everywhere from Kangaroo Island, out in the Flinders ranges and down on the coast.

Used the Big4 in New Zealand when we toured with a camper van...I can highly recommend them. Lovely clean facilities with shops and places for the kids to play-pools and parks etc. A clean toilet and shower really does make all the difference :o

Can't wait to get camping around SA...looking forward to exploring the outback :)

Great thread, cheers x
