Hi Tracey & Family

We went to KI last easter and had a ball, Well knackered when we got back tho, but one of the best breaks we have had, so relaxing, and heaps of wildlife.

We also stopped in Kingscote.

The island is bigger than you think but make sure you make it to Admirals Arch. !!

Take a full tank of fuel with you as petrol is more expensive over there, and a heap of food if your self catering, and dont forget if you have room Beer and wine !!.

Enjoy :chatterbox:

Stokes Bay is beautiful, great beach. Emu Bay is also beautiful beach, quite windy when we went.

We stayed in Kingscote, its good cos then you can walk to the pub (nice meals). Check out the fairy penguins.

We drove the whole north coast in a day and stopped off at most beaches etc then the next day drove the south coast. I didnt have a 4WD but car coped with the roads...just.

Watch out for road kill, there is lots. Careful if you go driving after sun down as the wildlife will be out too.

Have a great time!

Oh and forgot to mention Paul's place, it's a must especially for kids. I got to hold a kangaroo and feed it its milk!

Admiral arch is good, lots of seals. Remarkable rocks too

We also went to an italian restaurant in kingscote, specialises in pizzas i think. Great meal but you have to book.

Got to agree with Pam777 about Paul's place, the kids loved it. Just check the opening times, I'm sure he only opens for a couple of hours each day.

Also, try the Maron restaurant we had a fantastic meal and its not that far from Paul's place.

Agree with charlie29 on the size of KI, we went for 3days and we still didn't see everything!

Have a great time

You can't go to KI without visiting Remarkable Rocks, its like going to Egypt and not seeing the pyramids! There's so much to see, you will have a ball. We've stayed in lots of places on KI. Our favourite place to stay has to be the Western KI Caravan Park as you can book a log cabin and still be amongst all the wildlife and be pretty well central to most things. Bear in mind that there is not that many places to eat out on KI - even the main town of Kingscote only has about 3 places to eat. I would bring facilities to cook your own and the Western KI Caravan park has kitchin facilities too. I put an extensive post on camping on Kangaroo Island a while back, click here http://www.pomsinadelaide.com/forum/out-about-sa/8836-camping-kangaroo-island.html and also it might be worth doing a search for Kangaroo Island to see other people's experiences on here.
